Countdown to the 2012 Nigerian Youth Merit Awards: Full Nominees List Unveiled! BellaNaija, Chimamanda Ngozi Adichie, Stephanie Linus & D’Banj Make the Final Cut

All is set for the Nigerian Youth Merit Awards, NYMA 2012, this Friday as 18 Nigerian youths who have distinguished themselves in various aspects of national life will receive recognition under the auspices of the National Youth Economic Summit Group.

The Nigerian Youth Merit Awards is an annual red carpet dinner aimed at recognizing outstanding achievements amongst youths in Nigeria as well as a few youth-friendly individuals and organizations that have shown unparalleled commitment to the development of Nigerian youths in various sectors of the economy and all works of life.

The event is expected to showcase several talented Nigerian Youths who have achieved extraordinary success in their chosen endeavour, irrespective of their background and educational status. It will also be a unique entertainment platform for the participants of the National Youth Economic Summit as various musical & comedy acts will be invited to perform at the awards ceremony.

The Nigerian Youth Merit Awards, NYMA, is the grand finale of a highly topical National Youth Economic Summit with the theme “Positioning the youth for ACTIVE PARTICIPATION in an emerging economy”.  The summit is to be hosted by President Goodluck Jonathan and Governor Babatunde Fashola; with others such as the Minister of Finance and Coordinating Minister of the Economy, Ngozi Okonjo-Iweala, Minister of Trades and Investment, Dr. Olusegun Aganga and the Rivers State Governor, Rotimi Amaechi, playing different roles as facilitators and mentors.

The National Youth Economic Summit will feature a job fair while resource speakers will make presentations on various topics. The event will simulate the Nigerian Economic Summit and will take place in a single hall with close to 1,000 participants from all sectors of the economy.

Owing to the state of youth unemployment in the country today and the immense job opportunities in the Real Estate Industry, if developed; 3Invest Intelligence, the media and advocacy arm of 3Invest Limited has partnered with NAYES and NYMA 2012 to amplify the opportunities in Real Estate youths whom will find the opportunities in the industry appealing enough for exploration.

No Hating… I applaud the efforts of all the nominated but i don’t think anyone above 25 should be considered as a Youth. All these people are over 30…. Guys please.

These awards do more harm than good… because these are the reason why people from the OBJ’s era and a little younger will not place any significant responsibility on adults… because we still see our selves as YOUTH.

I also wonder what some names are doing on this supposedly ‘youth list’. Anyway, a youth they say, is any person between the ages of 15 and 35 inclusive. So….
