Pro or Not? See Ali Baba, AY, Bovi, Yaw, Dotun & More battle on the Football Field at 3ra’fique’s “Join the Cast” Match for World Malaria Day | Photos
The World Malaria Day held on Thursday 25th April 2013 and 3ra’fique commemorated the day with its “Join The Cast” World Malaria Day on Saturday 27th April, 2013 in Lagos. The event was a one of a kind celebration where OAP’s from radio & TV battled Comedians in a football match towards the fight against malaria. The teams consisted of Ali Baba GFCR, Dotun of Cool FM, Yaw of Wazobi FM, A.Y Makun, Bovi and other entertainment personalities.
In partnership with Ali Baba the event aimed at leveraging on the appeal of soccer to deliver malaria prevention messages whilst mobilizing communities against the epidemic. Irabor Okosun (CEO 3ra’fique Communications) commented “Malaria is both a cause and consequence of poverty. Football on the other hand is the most popular sport in the world and Nigerians love it. The appreciation of the sport offers a boundless platform that provides a holistic viewpoint for upholding health awareness fights.”
Mr. Okosun said, “Malaria Kills 655,000 people each year, 86% of which are children and it is on this ground that we are inviting Nigerians of all ages to join in the fight against the disease by coming out to participate in this soccer match, even as we continue to work towards transforming the lives of the less privileged and eliminating untimely deaths caused by the Malaria malaise.”
At the event, there were free mobile platforms provided by 3ra’afiqu communications for the society for Health and the Lagos State Ministry of Health for Rapid Diagnostic Testing (RDT) that was set up to properly test and treat people positive with malaria through the new malaria remedy – Artemisilin Combination Therapy (ACT).
