I love me a gathering of intellectuals. Chinua Achebe is worth every commemorative event possible and this looks just about right! Well done to the organisers.

On another note, OFILI my dearest, my specimen of fine wine amongst the men of our generation, the stimulant of the bluestocking in me, my imaginary thunder-buddy, my dear dear OFILI, I KNOW you didn’t just do the finger-pointing pose thing! Please tell me it was a parody! Pleeeeeeeeaaaaaaaaaaase!!!

The great Achebe wrote beautiful Nigerian literature, and they are serving some tasteless oyinbo canapés and busy advertising Moet’s tatsteless dishwater. what is wrong with serving some “palm wine and some Nigerian small chops”. seriously. A lottery winner of 50 plus million pounds in the UK just spat out that moet of a thing just months ago in front of a national audience. common!!! when are we going to start promoting our stuff?

      July 31, 2013 at 1:23 pm

Errr….the event was “Hosted by Moet & Chandon” so naturally, they would serve……….yup you got that right, Moet & Chandon! How about your local palmwine tappers association band together and organise one of these eh? That way, you will be well within your rights to kick up a fuss if the nkwuenu isn’t flowing. People sef.

      I feel your pain.
The Moet seems to be sticking out like a sore thumb in all the pics above. Looking very out of place.
Well,it is Eko. Everything for show. So it is understandable.
I understand it was sponsored by them but it still looks out of place considering the context of the gathering. The sponsorship na by force?

99.9% of people celebrating the Legend were not at his burial, so it doesnt make sense after giving an interview about the MAN ACHEBE that depicts >>>>>>>>> ACHEBE is celebrated world over.
