This weekend in Akwa Ibom, there is reason to celebrate people and indigenous brands in a glamorous event to spotlight the city of Uyo, as well as encourage, motivate, recognize, applaud and toast to excellence the offerings and enterprise of people, corporations, and creative enterprises that have achieved various remarkable feats in the last one year.
The Uyo City Awards (UCA), an initiative of www.wetinhappen.com, Nigeria’s exclusive online photoevent magazine online, published by Aniekan Ekah and Kardynal Kommunikationz, an integrated marketing communications agency in Akwa Ibom State led by Ubong Ekanem, is an annual social re-orientation programme with the aim of encouraging and honouring people/enterprises of extraordinary calling in all works of life within Uyo, who through hardwork, perseverance, resilience and integrity have risen to exceptional heights.
This year, the Awards, leveraged on support of thousands of people spread across the city of Uyo, will feature 56 categories, 237 nominees and 15 remarkable achievers. Also included are performances by the Scotland-based Nigerian music sensation, IsDon, contemporary dance by Ayaya International and a fashion show by up-and-coming fashion designer, ThreadWox. Also expected to grace the event are: celebrities, artistes, press/media men, government functionaries and the crème of public and private sector in Akwa Ibom State.
