#BBNaija's Nina isn't very happy with how this Interview turned out | BellaNaija

2018 Big Brother Naija‘s finalist Nina had sat down for an interview with TheNetNG, where she discussed her time in the house among other things.

To promote the interview, the media house shared a post on their Instagram and website, detailing the reality star’s conduct. They wrote:

Widely regarded as one of the underdogs of the recently-concluded edition of Big Brother Nigeria, Nina Oyenobi never knew she was capable of gathering a huge fan base until she secured a place as one of the show’s five finalists. Oyenobi rose to fame as one half of MINA, a strategic as well as romantic partnership that involved Miracle Igbokwe, the show’s eventual winner.

Since leaving the house, the light-skinned beauty who critics of the show that gave her stardom often dismiss as not ‘sharp’has birthed her own fashion company and hair line, Nina Ivy Empire, giving the impression that she is ready to make a name for herself apart from being regarded as Miracle’s witless paramour.

This was also the impression we at NET TV had when we invited her over to our studios for an interview, a month after the show ended. The interview which was nearly marred by poor logistics (she didn’t have a car and had to be brought over in a Taxify ride we got for her) and ‘African time’, started on a rather ridiculous note when the Big Brother finalist declined to go on air because she was not pleased with her makeup.

‘I can’t use this colour’, she said. ‘I react to some brands. It’s showing the pimples on my face. You guys won’t be there when people are abusing me on Instagram.’ Her staunch refusal suggested to us that she was concerned about how people perceived her and as seen on the show, seemed unsure of herself. She was then taken to a name brand makeup studio by her handler.

They returned almost two hours later but more surprises laid in wait as the interview started. Apparently in a bid to prevent gaffes and WTF type of statements, her new ‘team’ comprising of an official manager and an ‘Auntie’ – attempted to screen the questions she would be asked. Of course we declined. But no sooner than the interview started did they start shouting answers at her. Anytime she started to answer a question, they literally cut in to tell her what to say. We asked how she felt about Cee C. Her team called out from behind the camera ‘Just say unique. Unique!’

Matters came to a head when  this writer asked her about the car on screen lover Miracle promised to buy her. Even Nina could no longer stand the duo’s constant intrusion and cried out in frustration, You people are not letting me do this interview well, you people are distracting me.

Eventually the interview was wrapped up and it was clear that Nina herself was unhappy with the overbearing nature of her handlers. It is expected that as she starts a new life as a celeb, her manager may want to guide her interactions with the media. However there’s a wide gulf between guidance and puppetry. This seemed like the latter.

Lol… which one is colour to black?? Feel the same objective could have been achieved with a more refined reportage. That said they probably felt she and her team were unprofessional behaviour and wanted to communicate same but they were too extra.
However, the cyberbullying and insults on the producer of the show by Nina fans is very crude and uncalled for!!

Ah mehn. Let me go and make money. What is this? If you are not ready for prime time, dont show up with this level of lack of preparedness. Get rid of the pimples or wear them with pride. Speak your grammar as you fit speak reach and just be original. Otherwise, just stay away from the limelight. This is the worst disgrace. The show’s producer basically made you seem like a dim wit. Not alright too from their end because that is not professional. You either feature her or you dont.

I think thenet were unprofessional. They were trying to make Nina and her team look bad but ended up looking ugly. Even the narrative is zero and biased. They deserve everything they got from the comment session.

I think the net ng was trying to talk Tiannah trying to turn Nina into her puppet from the full post on their blog.

Toyin does look like all these females that have to be in control in their friendships, hence they find an aburo all the time. It’s pathetic to see.

Nina on the other hand does come across as extremely dumb and intentionally naive (I say intentionally naive because naiveté is a defense mechanism for her as she has used it to survive lots of situations back home) and so Nina is the perfect match for Toyin. She will act naive and get what she wants and then fight with Toyin.

However, Nina should know that in this game, dumb blondie is not the way to go as she won’t be able to rise above a certain level as people don’t respect people they pity. This might just be me forcing a dream on her, maybe all Nina really wants is to date a few rich men, marry a rich man and have lazy businesses on the side.

The net ng; cyber bullying will soon become a jail-able offense. face your work and stop trolling.

Bella Naijarians, forgive my armchair psychology jare, all these thoughts are mine only and I am no expert.

Be careful what you say about people you don’t know. Where did you get all this info? If you followed d Bbnaija show you would know Nina is very naive and has low self-esteem. All she needs to do is build her self-esteem and she will be fine

But she abi her team has a right to screen interview questions. OH Puhhlease, Kris Jenner screens every single question before her kids go on air. Be it Ellen or Oprah, they receive question areas before hand and have a right to decline being asked particular questions. So thenet, its not new. Nobody should be subjected to a discomforting situation. I don’t even blame Beyonce for totally stopping interviews. You journalists/magazines abeg, y’all are the unprofessional ones. And please don’t change her skin tone. Let they who are fair be fair. And let they who are dark, be dark. Live and let live.

**well written piece though. I have a thing for well written articles lol.

Ever since the net ng has been interviewing people, there were no behind the scene report on celebrities .Why then was there need for behind the scenes report on Nina? They probably felt the public was going to mock her and have a field day with Nina’s nativity.Wrong!
I have never seen an unprofessional journalist as I’ve seen on the net ng .Chai chai chai……I weep for the lack of professionalism in Nigeria generally. They sent a message to the poor girl that they wanted to interview her on fashion and trend. There was no single question on trend or fashion instead the sex hungry interviewer wishing to sleep with Miracle was asking sex questions and some other bullshit??
The girl needs an open apology and a retraction.Kunle Ayeni ,you are a disgrace.

The author of this piece/editorial appeared professional up until the “we had to get her a taxify” part. They obviously aren’t professionals but are there for the scoop.
And to Nina, this is celebrity life, you asked for it so you got to deal with the good, the bad and the ugly. Real life ain’t got no filters.

The NET should be sued for this. Their headline reads exclusive interview, yet there’s nothing in the article telling us the questions asked and the answers given. Instead, we have a narrative of events around the interview. This is clearly revenge from the media house, using their influence as media to punish Nina because she gave them a hard time. This is highly unprofessional.

It is obvious most of this bloggers are not well trained. There is nothing wrong in screening questions before the interview. The choice of words the writer used for the excepts to promote the interview were not necessary (witless paramour etc) and how can a trained journalist be bold enough to say they didn’t allow the management team review the interview questions (na examination hall). The editing job was shoddy and d final production very tacky but this Nigeria where the blame goes to the ‘celeb’ and not the production crew

Haaa auntie u sef your own too much jor its for the fame why should you screen your questions is there anything u re hiding besides that’s d point to get to know u right?

The write up is so hateful. It is obvious the production crew found her attitude irritating or something. Whatever the case may be it is so unprofessional of them to write such captions. What do they intend to achieve from such a distasteful report

Be careful of what you say on camera. And prepare someone before interviewing him or her.
