Nigerian Economic Summit Group launches Bettertax Initiative to build an Effective Tax System

The Nigerian Economic Summit Group (NESG) launches the #bettertax initiative to start a conversation about the Nigerian Tax System.

On Tuesday, May 15th, 2019, Nigerians from all walks of life were invited for the launch of Bettertax; an initiative supported by Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation that aims to look into the Nigerian tax system in order to build an effective one that benefits every citizen.

From Nigerian students to government officials, the event was for all; as every stakeholder was represented in the audience. A panel comprising  Eng. Ahmed Munsur (President MAN), Professor Teju Somorin (First Female Professor of Taxation), Yemi Adamolekun (Executive Director, EIE)

Nigeria, Gabriel Fagbemilusi and Taiwo Oyedele (Tax Leader – PWC) steered the conversations for the day and entertained questions from the Moderator Onyi Sunday and audience.

The Nigerian Economic Summit Group Fiscal Policy Commission also launched the Citizen’s Perception Report which is a result of one of the ongoing research by the NESG on Tax in Nigeria from the different angles of the different Tax stakeholders.
