This year’s Global Citizen Festival was held at the New York central park on Saturday the 28th of September.

Global Citizen is a movement of engaged citizens who are using their collective voice to end extreme poverty by 2030.

The Global Citizen initiative will culminate next year with Global Go Live: The Possible Dream, a 10-hour concert to be held in September 2020 on five continents. The show will be broadcast live from New York City, Lagos, Nigeria, and other cities in Europe, Asia and Latin America.

The festival will call on governments and businesses to raise millions of dollars to prevent plastic pollution, empower women, fight infectious diseases, and provide a quality education to future leaders.

As expected, Nigerian stars and politicians were in attendance, including Governors Babajide Sanwo-Olu of Lagos, Simon Bako Lalong of Plateau, DJ Cuppy, Falana, United Nations Deputy Secretary-General, Amina Mohammed, Tunde Folawiyo, Aigboje Aig-Imoukhuede among others.
