I am a certified real estate professional. Speaking as one, I am of the opinion that this course should not be thrown open to all comers simply because they can afford the seminar fees. This profession is hinged on competence and integrity brought about by multifaceted academic training and on the field hands on experience. Otherwise, as with all things Nigerian, everyone jumps on the band wagon and desecrates the profession. Imagine a graduate with business administration major attending this and afterwards parading himself or herself a knowledgeable in facilities management without grasping the fundamentals of building construction, fluid dynamics , plumbing principles and electronics. How will such person supervise those who will work under him or her.? it is a specialized profession like medicine, law, engineering and should not be trivialized or foreign firms with more strict standards with dominate the Nigerian FM space.
