Nigerians trend #TheAtikuChallenge in Support of Super Eagles’ World Cup Qualification

World Cup? #TheAtikuChallenge? Super Eagles? Doesn’t connect, does it?

Hold up.

Nigeria on Saturday became the first African team to qualify for the Russia 2018 World Cup after a 1-0 win over Zambia.

(Alex Iwobi scored the only goal, but that’s besides the point.)

Former Vice President and Presidential candidate Atiku Abubakar, in support of the Super Eagles, tweeted:

TwitterNG, characteristically, picked up on the photo (only the photo) and somehow morphed it into a hashtag to celebrate the qualification.

It started with #ReadyForRussia, but that was quickly dumped for #TheAtikuChallenge.

I am happy for Nigeria. The boys have done us proud.
Please I don’t mind going to this Russia. Never been there and never traveled to go watch any game. So this wouldn’t be bad. #atiku… Sir please add mine and hubby tickets to that your own. Let’s go cheer our boys to victory…
