#AMVCA2018: 10 Most Talked About Looks from the 2018 Africa Magic Viewers’ Choice Awards | Refreshed by H2Oh!

The Africa Magic Viewers’ Choice Awards is definitely an event where celebrities go all out with their outfits.

The stars spend weeks trying to get their look right for the most anticipated night of the year and naturally, their fans talk about what they wear on social media.

Several people had a lot to say on social media about different outfits worn by Africa’s biggest celebrities.

Some outfits definitely stood out as the most talked about looks. While some talked about the performances and award winners, most talked about “who wore what?”

Even BellaNaijarians got involved in the gist via Instagram and our comments section. Some of these stars are even trending on social media, outside of the general top #AMVCA2018 trending topic.

This AMVCA x BellaNaija category is refreshed by H2Oh!

Big Brother Naija 2018 housemate BamBam was easily the most talked about star tonight at the 2018 Africa Magic Viewer’s Choice Awards.

Styled in a unique feathered piece by House of Jahdara, BamBam’s outfit for the night was a straight “hate it or love it” piece. No in-between. The outfit had quite a number of people talking on social media.

For us, the outfit is quite reminiscent of one that Lady Gaga wore recently at the ongoing Venice Film Festival.

Her overall aura in the outfit is just the icing on the cake. I love “different” but different only works if your confidence can carry it. She killed it. Easily my best dressed of the night.

Yeah her outfit was creative and all but lady gaga did not use feathers for hers cause her stylist knew it was make it look odd. The feathers idea is cool but i feel it could have been nicer if it was used in a different style and not for a maxi gown.

Dear BN, calling Asian style “Oriental” is considered racist. You might want to correct that.

@missme, is that why the continue to be a School of Asian and Oriental Studies at the University of London and many other universities (Bonn, Zurich, Barcelona, Cologne, etc.)?

Yes, the term ‘oriental’ MAY be (but is not inherently) considered as offensive when referring to Asian-originated things and/or people, because it is Eurocentric and considered to place Asia in a subordinate light since Asia is only east of Europe and such usage therein places Europe at the center of the universe – although others argue that it is merely a derivative of ‘oriens’ which means rising in reference to the sun rising from the east. Either way, it is not considered inherently racist (and certainly NOT in the context employed here), but it is probably more PC to use the term “Asian” (albeit the are drastically wide cultural differences among Asian people to render such usage substantively meaningless in the instant context).
