The Governor Ebonylife TV Series (3)

‘The Governor’ is the riveting tale of Angela Ochello, the Deputy Governor of Savannah State who with no governorship ambitions finds herself suddenly entangled in a web of political intrigue after the untimely death of the incumbent Governor. The audience gets to see how with the help of her trusted Chief of Staff, Angela learns how to maneuver through the rough and shark-infested waters of politics whilst balancing the demands of her matrimonial home.

‘The Governor’ is set in Savannah, a coastal state in Western Africa established in 1964 and extremely rich in iron ore. Known for its widely spaced grassland with temperate weather conditions and unique tourist attractions, Savannah has a population of 15 million people majority of who are fishermen and farmers. The rich cultural diversity and political awareness of the people makes it one of the most politically active states in the country.

Written by Yinka Ogun, Debo Oluwatuminu and Tunde Babalola, ‘The Governor’ will take constituents and citizens alike through the shadowy often gruesome corridors of power and promises to be packed with lots of intrigue, drama and sometimes humour.

Can Angela standup to her rivals and assume her place as Governor? Will the fear of losing her husband cause her to forfeit this opportunity?

The series was directed by Ema Edosio and the lead character ‘Angela Ochello’ is played by British-Nigerian actress Caroline Chikezie (Aeon Flux, BBC’s Casualty, Channel 4’s As If).

Other cast members include Bimbo Manuel, Baaj Adebule, Kachi Nnochiri, and Simi Adejumo amongst others.

The 13-episode series will air Thursdays exclusively on EbonyLife TV (DSTV Channel 165).

      yup.
at first i thought Naija politics female lead has to be fat. already lost some credibility in this woman being far from fat.
keep the stories rather real i think, that would help. most people have seen make-up and weavon before, people have heard phoneh and whatever gloss they’re planning, but it’s a riveting, great tale that would make your work unforgettable.
      exciting idea. good luck.

I’m sure a lot of work has gone into this. Well done Ebony Life. Just one thing. It depicts the stereotype that women only fall into positions and don’t work hard to get it.
