Every year, fashion lovers all over the world look forward to one of the biggest fashion event of the year, the MET Gala. The themed gala held annually brings the crème de la crème of Hollywood and world influencers under one roof with their stylish ensembles leaving us in awe and glued to our TV screens.
Either it’s Beyonce giving us goals in her “leaving nothing to your imagination” outfit by Givenchy or Rihanna serving omelettes with her outfit by Guo Pei and even Claire Danes having the ultimate cinderella moment in Zac Posen, you have to admit that the MET Gala is a place risk-taking fashion enthusiasts that always give us something for the books.
This year’s sartorial theme of the 2017 Met Gala will honour Rei Kawakubo. The Metropolitan Museum of Art’s Costume Institute’s spring 2017 exhibition is “Rei Kawakubo/Comme des Garcons: Art of the In-Between” and the Met Gala will celebrate the exhibit’s opening, as it does every year. In true MET Gala tradition, the theme of the gala is tied to the exhibition.
Japanese fashion designer Rei Kawakubo is known for her avant-grande and creative designs and we are sure the celebrities will meet up to expectation and do justice to this year’s theme.
The event will be on Monday, May 1, 2017, and hosted by Pharrell Williams and Katy Perry. But unfortunately, the gala will not be televised according to United Press International.
