“Naija in the Building!” D’banj, Brymo, Ice Prince & Davido scoop major awards at the 2012 Channel O Music Video Awards

BellaNaija was live on the scene at the 2012 Channel O Music Video Awards last night in Soweto, Johannesburg, South Africa.
It was an exciting show and as expected, our Nigerian music stars dominated the winners list with D’banj scooping up the “biggest award of the night” – Most Gifted Video of the Year for his mega hit video “Oliver Twist” which was directed by ‘Sesan Ogunro. The DB Records star also won another award for Most Gifted Male Video of the Year.

Davido capped off his remarkable year by winning the Most Gifted Newcomer of the Year award for his video “Dami Duro“. Chocolate City also had a strong outing with Choc Boi Ice Prince co-hosting the event with South African star Bonang. The Choc Boiz also won 2 awards – Most Gifted Afro Pop Video of the Year for Brymo‘s “Ara” and Most Gifted Hip-Hop Video of the Year for Ice Prince’s “Superstar“.

Though Tiwa Savage lost out to Zahara in the Most Gifted Female Video of the Year category, the Nigerian star won an award for her feature on Flavour‘s track “Oyi“. The video was recognized as the Most Gifted RnB Video of the Year. P-Square was honoured as the Most Gifted Group/Duo of the Year for their megahit remix video for “Chop My Money” featuring Akon and ex-labelmate MayD. The Nigerian/Ghanaian connection was solidified as D-Black‘s collaborative effort with Mo’Cheddah for “Falling” was chosen as Most Gifted West African Video of the Year.

Can someone explain what a ‘gifted’ video is? I’m trying to understand the reasoning behind Channel O giving out ‘most gifted’ video awards
