Supreme Court Fires Taraba Governor
The Supreme Court has sacked acting governor of Taraba State, Garba Umar, and replaced him with Abubakar Danladi, an ex deputy governor who was impeached before Umar took over.
Daily Trust reports that the court declared Danladi’s impeachment “null and void” and called for his instant restoration as governor.
The reason the court gave for reinstating Daladi is because “the panel that sat and investigated Danladi did not give him fair hearing.”
Danladi was impeached as deputy governor of the state few months before Governor Danbaba Suntai was injured in a plane crash in 2012.
He was replaced with Umar who had served as acting governor since then due to Suntai’s ill health that occurred as a result of the 2012 crash.
