Professor Kingsley Moghalu, former Central Bank Deputy Governor, has reiterated the need for all Nigerians to place a premium on purposeful leadership and national unity in creating a better and equitable future for the country.

Paying a courtesy visit to Muhammadu Lamido Sanusi II, the Emir of Kano, the founder of the think-tank, Institute for Governance and Economic Transformation (IGET) expressed regret at the current political and economic situation in the country, stating that the country has fallen off the wagon due to inefficient political stewardship.

“We have made this trip in the spirit of unity and friendship. As an indigene of Nnewi, Anambra State, we were all witnesses to the deep history that Anambra and Kano share, and the longstanding traditions that relate to the role of royalty in maintaining unity in Nigeria. After contributing massively to the economic development of our great country, I also commend the Emir for returning home to continue this wonderful tradition.”

Receiving Professor Moghalu’s delegation which included a former Minister of Health, Professor A.B.C Nwosu; Faruq Shehu, former Director of the Consumer Protection Department, Central Bank of Nigeria; Colonel Charles Onwujuba (rtd.) and Muazu Lere, Deputy Director, Central Bank of Nigeria, the Emir commended Professor Moghalu for his work and success since concluding his tenure at the Central Bank, especially in thought leadership, the academics and public policy.
