Austrian Lace Nigerian Fashion Event 2011: Ituen Basi
Posted on Thursday, June 2nd, 2011 at 1:26 AMBy Ijeoma Ndekwu
Ituen Basi in this collection combines a mix of influences. We are presented with Japanese Kimono style tops, 1920′s low waist dresses, and also catch a glimpse of the flapper and fringe dresses from that same era. The high-neck tie bow dresses are very reminiscent of the Victorian era. Although very eclectic in her choice of influences for this collection, she manages to keep it all in sync.
She presents simple everyday garments like shirt dresses, basic tie bow blouses which she juxtaposes with a lot more up-scale garments, which showcase the versatility of the brand.
True to form we see wide-leg pants assert itself as this seasons hottest trend and bold coloured and textured pants showcasing their translatable appeal.
Ituen Basi sought to present the fluidity of Austrian lace, to showcase its ability to successfully allow for re-modelling and re-shaping.

I concur… Who would ever had thought u can do so much with lace

i WANT
Gorgeousness!!!
The kids!!! ADORABLE
Me likey!
Some are not meant for lace…. We love to try different cultural styles but how many asians rock our clothes, or Indians.. Never ever seen on the run away… We are always the first to embrace others style and culture. Sometimes it works sometimes it doesn’t David Oshodi is better..
Very impressed with all she’s done with lace. Lace is a difficult fabric to work with and she’s proven talent; something a lot of co-called Nigerian designers lack. Frank Oshodi has got nothing on her jor. Why are we bothered with what asians or indians wear? How many people in the world or nigerians rock indian styles? Everyone makes clothes that anyone can wear anywhere and still look hot! You obviously haven’t seen Gwen Stefani’s designs…
Please give the woman props and stop critisizing!
Ituen Basi will go far, her designs are fabulous!
she truely talented…evryti is beautiful….where can i get any???
I still can’t believe this is lace.
you can believe it – you can do much more out of lace, believe me, we produce the lace, with Ituen Basi, Tiffany Amber, Frank Osodi and Vivid Imagination, we found perfect partners to work with – put the African/Austrian dream together, the dream of being more beautiful which you will be wearing our laces…. Margret.
