Modenine Returns With ‘The Commercial Break’
Modenine is arguably Africa’s best lyricist and he has returned from his hiatus in the UK with the first single from his forthcoming album Commercial Break. The track is aptly titled I’m Back. He worked with UK based Bayoz Music (responsible for one of the Chemical Reaction remixes) and the track samples Public Enemy’s Bring the Noize.
On this track, it is easy to assume that Modenine is ‘caving in’ to the ‘vox populi’ that he for so long resisted – switching to ‘Commercial Music’. It is a gamble as to how true hip-hop heads will take this turn of events. However, whether or not this song can be played in the clubs, Modenine shows why he is Africa’s Number 1 Lyricist.
