Folorunsho Alakija - December 2013 - Forbes Africa - BellaNaija

Africa’s self made billionaire Folorunsho Alakija covers Forbes Africa Woman Magazine‘s December 2013/January 2014 issue.

The Nigerian oil mogul who is reportedly the richest black woman in the world, is all smiles on the cover in a sequined multi-coloured Ankara dress.

Forbes Woman Africa spotlights the philanthropist, the entrepreneur, the mother, the wife and the woman who takes the crown as an undeniable force to be reckoned with in Africa’s economy.

According to Forbes, Alakija is profoundly uncomfortable with the “super-rich” tag. She believes that she is far more than just her fabulous wealth.

No frances, it does not take goodhead + hardwork to turn an oil well into money. oil well IS money. instantaneous Billionaire. Love her too because whatever she did to IBB, she did it really well to get an oil well! kai!!!

      • Secret December 6, 2013 at 7:55 AM

No no she’s right…it does take a good head to get far these days in Nigeria. A good blowjob…aka “head ” can do wonders. Smh lmaooooo.

    • Okechukwu Ofili December 4, 2013 at 10:04 PM

      • Fashionista December 11, 2013 at 12:51 PM

Thank you oh! They think we’re stupid.

    • Iseme December 5, 2013 at 2:41 PM

i always wondered how she made soo much money, because i just couldnt visibly lay my hands on wot she did. now i know #ibb

    • cosmos December 5, 2013 at 5:50 PM

It’s a Machiavellian’s world we live in.. the end simply justify the means. The self-made tag is so much an insult to the collective intelligence and sensibilities of every impoverished Nigerian youths and unborn generations who are the ultimate victims of these celebrated products of official corruption and warped values. Unfortunately it’s a global phenomenon with more dangerous consequences for the future of developing nations like our dear Nigeria.

    • Bibigirl December 6, 2013 at 4:52 AM

I saw the self-made thing and clicked on the story just so I could point out the apparently unobvious obvious but I see my work has been done for me. moving on…

    • Bibigirl December 6, 2013 at 5:02 AM

oh and before I move on, Frances please even a foolish, brainless, blind, deaf, dumb and lame man can become instantly rich if you give him an oil well. Heck its like winning the lottery!!!

    • babylove December 19, 2013 at 12:04 PM

while we admit the truth must be said only say what you can confirm about someone….i do not think she flaunts her self around like a billionaire who is ruled by money…..she is hard working, a christian and a philantrophist….she got an oil well which she and her boys have done well with…truth be said some people do benefit more than others when people they know come into government and for some women the connection is not always mistress or girlfriend wise…we know how the media just overflog certain individuals when they are in the news….alot more should be directed at the media at how they present people and their wealth cos we know the kind of wealth that have put her on forbes is not self made. that aside she is absolutely more than the wealth the media is hyping in their typical fashion…..
