Austrian Lace Nigerian Fashion Event 2011: Frank Osodi for House of Bunor

Ijeoma Balogun

For his collection, Frank Osodi went for a girly, elaborate and sophisticated silhouette. In Nigeria, Austrian lace is most commonly used for Iro and Buba and for Blouse and Skirt styles. Frank Osodi in this collection explored these traditional styles, in particular, the blouse and the skirt and gave it a twist.

The collection features ballgown dresses, full skirts and details like dramatically applied ruffles. The blouses came in the form of blazers, peplum tops with ruffles and bell sleeves. The skirts came with more volume, tiered and with full fishtails.

He also presented an array of floor-length dresses that also adopted the flamboyance we see in the pieces in this collection.

The Designer, Frank Osodi

Frank’s designs are wat I wuld like to refer to as Elegant Feminism. And in this collection, dt theme is seen. I like d 5th outfit and d detailins in d Weddin dress. And as always, Frank shows us his STRENGTH- Bustiers. They seat so well on his ladies witout showin too much. Nice 1 King of Bustiers!

Frank sews well……but he is definitely no type of designer. Nothing here is any different from what any other nigerian ladies have worn to weddings and events.

Unfortunately, I’m not impressed at all.

@Foxtrot – you took the words right outta my mouth! He sews well; nothing more. Nothing here is new or unique, all are just sewn well. Can’t believe anyone would think this is better than Ituen Basi’s collection…smh

ITS ALL ABOUT BEING VERY CREATIVE AND EDGY FOR EVERY DESIGNER AT THE FIRST STAGE AFTER WHICH YOU JUST RELAX AND WORK EITHER ON YOUR PATTERN OR CUT. HE DID A GOOD JOB(I MUST COMMEND HIM) BUT THIS IS NO WAY CREATIVE RATHER ELEGANT AND CLEAR CUT OUTFITS. ……HOUSE OF ZINNO
