2015 AFCON: Equatorial Guinea & Congo Reach Quarter Final

CONGO SOCCERHosts Equatorial Guinea and Congo reached the quarter finals of the 2015 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) tournament after beating Gabon and Burkina Faso, respectively in their final Group A matches.

Equatorial Guinea beat Gabon 2-0 while Congo defeated Burkina Faso 2-1.

Congo top the table with 7 points, Equatorial Guinea have 5, Gabon 5 and Burkina Faso 1.

Equatorial Guinea went ahead in their match in the 55th minute when Javier Balboa converted a penalty kick after 55 minutes. Iban sealed victory in the 86th minute.

Congo went ahead through Thievy Bifouma in the 51st minute. Aristide Bance equalised for Burkina Faso in the 86th minute but Congo’s Fabrice Ondama hit back one minute later to give Congo all three points.
