For Spring/Summer 2016, Akpos Okudu‘s woman is clearly defined.

She is fashion savvy, she finds blush and pink alluring, and she likes to be the belle at the ball.

After presenting “Wanderlust” at the Heineken Lagos Fashion & Design Week, the self-named womenswear label presents us with the lookbook.

Okudu says the collection is inspired by pink skies and sunsets. “It has to do with a mood and feeling more than anything,” she says.

For the SS 16 season, the collection features intricately embellished lace dresses in vibrant colours including dusty pink, nude, and salmon.

So Akpos Okudu had the GUTS to remix and showcase all the trends that Zuhair Murad and the other Lebanese designers had done and overdone last season into this season with a lovely dash of extremely bad tailoring and disappointing poor finish? What a long question to ask, but this is not good. Anyone that says otherwise is a liar form the pit of hell. I want to “Buy Nigerian” with all my heart but “this is bad, real bad, Michael Jackson”

well all have said what they on their heart.I am a designer and what I see is good job .just improve on your finishing. when you are working with such fabric. it is difficult .nice.

I wish the model did better poses asides from the cliche hand on hip poses. Lovely designs but the designer needs to pay attention to little details that may just make the whole outfit look tacky.

I like the designs, but the tailoring and fabric are really bad.

This is really bad. Then again I’m not surprised her finishing has always been awful. I have a few of her pieces from way back I thought she would have improved by now

I like the concept and the designer tried tbh, but overall a few things need to be fixed, substandard tailoring, bad finishing and no boob support for the model. Everything kept dangling and the outfits weren’t as fitted as they could/should be. E for Effort.

Sigh. Akpos please do better. If you aren’t a couturier don’t bother doing this. You can try contemporary fashion or high street instead. If maybe this is your passion then please go to an actual design school that will teach you the art of true haute couture.
