Creative Director for Chanel, Karl Lagerfeld is putting a romantic spin on Silicon Valley. His collection for the Paris Fashion Week Spring/Summer 17 runway show was clearly influenced by technology, from the runway/set design (Chanel Data Center), the Chanel-bots that opened the show wearing classic Chanel skirt suits and the robot inspired handbags.
The collection is also heavily street style inspired with the oversized jackets and side facing snapback caps. In his interview he mentions that these caps are what people wear most so he had to make a Chanel version of that and wear it in a different way on the side. The accessories are also throwbacks to early 90’s Hip Hop style with chunky necklaces, the snapbacks, big sunglasses and baggy clothes.
