Great turnout of passionate Nigerian men and women on Saturday, March 11th, 2017 at early morning annual Endo Walk. The walk was aimed at breaking the silence around Endometriosis – a silent but growing health condition that predisposes women of reproductive age to ill health, infertility and severe periodic pains.

The walk from City Mall, Onikan to Muri Okunola Park, organized by Endometriosis Support Group of Nigeria, in partnership with Malta Guinness as the official beverage partner was to raise awareness about endometriosis and to keep women on the alert.

The #EndoWalkLagos saw bright and passionate men and women including the Endo Brand Ambassador- Denrele Edun; who chanted “ENDO SUCKS” as they braved the hot sun raising awareness for the silent painful creeper – Endometriosis.

The awareness drive continued after the walk at the Endo Yellow Night Gala, which held on Sunday, March 19th, 2017 at Civic Center Lagos. The Endo Gala was well attended by elite ladies and gentlemen who were there to either share their stories of survival or to lend their voice and support the Awareness Drive for Endometriosis.

The Minister of Health, Professor Isaac Adewole represented by Professor Wole Atoyebi encouraged all present saying “we must all spread the news and be stakeholders in this endeavor”.

Ifeoma Agu, Brand Manager- Malta Guinness and Non-Alcoholic Drinks, Guinness Nigeria stated that Malta Guinness is very proud to be supporting an initiative such as this as the brand seeks to fuel the Can-do spirit of Nigerians as they step up to drive awareness for endometriosis- a condition which most Nigerians are oblivious of; yet it is fully present in the society we live in. Malta Guinness will continue to celebrate women and will always seek to remain relevant in the health and wellness segment- hence we had Malta Guinness Herbs Lite- our light sugar variant packed full of herbal goodness to refresh all the participants at the walk and at the Yellow night gala event.”

Also speaking at the event, Dr. Abayomi Ajayi, Founder of the Endometriosis Support Group, said: “Endometriosis is a lifelong condition and women need to know how to manage it so that they can have a quality life and enjoy their marriages.”

Awards were presented to members of the media for excellent media reportage especially in the aspect of reproductive health and also to students for their excellent essays about their knowledge of Endometriosis. Other interesting happenings at the event included fashion shows and a fundraiser for the awareness drive for endometriosis and support of people living with the condition.
