From the day they met, he knew that he had found someone special and on Saturday, 6th November 2010, a romance that began 7 years ago was solemnized as Bright ‘Basketmouth’ Okpocha married his sweetheart Elsie Uzoma in glamorous style.
In 2003, Basketmouth visited the University of Lagos campus and spotted beautiful Elsie, it took a couple of tries but persistence paid off and he eventually got her number. At that point, the couple began their romantic journey. Elsie has always been an encouraging partner by Basketmouth’s side and they both knew that they would spend their lives together. Basketmouth proposed to Elsie in a thrilling way and they began planning their special day.
Basketmouth and Elsie’s wedding was thoroughly romantic and totally glamorous. Having performed their traditional wedding rites and court wedding a few days before their big day, Basketmouth and Elsie were ready for the main event – their white wedding.
The bride Elsie took everyone’s breath away as she stepped into the flower adorned gazebo where their marriage blessing took place. She walked down the aisle in an elegant white strapless ballgown wedding dress by Pronovias. Her hair was swept up and accessorized with a bedazzled petal hairpiece which was accentuated by her diamond drop earrings and bracelets. Her face was covered with a delicate chapel length veil and her feet adored with embellished white platforms. Her bridesmaids were dressed in pink and silver – two of the wedding theme colours. The groom, Basketmouth was at his dapper best in a bespoke three piece long-tail suit by Saville Tailors. His groomsmen were in black suits while the special guest of honour, Basketmouth and Elsie’s son Jason was a handsome replica of his dad in his grey and black three piece suit.
After their marriage blessing, the couple proceeded to their wedding reception. The only word that can be used to describe the scene is WOW! The venue was beautifully decorated in their official wedding colours – Fuchsia Pink, Silver and Black. This was no ordinary wedding reception – the theme was so modern and fun.
Basketmouth and Elsie’s wedding reception was filled with so many standout elements and special moments that were representative of the fun loving couple. The unique spherical stage, the multi-tier pearl and crystal adorned cake, Elsie’s ‘Single Ladies’ dance and bouquet toss where she was showered with pink confetti as she gleefully tossed her bouquet to her friends to ‘one in town’ Basketmouth’s ‘watch toss’ which replaced the traditional garter toss, the groom’s moving speech and tribute to his mum. Let’s not forget, their romantic first dance as they were serenaded by songstress, Ego.
Basketmouth’s colleagues all came out to support him on his day – his mentor Ali Baba along with comedians Bovi, Julius Agwu, Tee A, Teju Babyface and many others were present to celebrate with their friend. It was an absolutely wonderful day for a great couple.

Where does one begin with this wedding. I mean, its awesome. I’m so impressed. By far one of the best styled weddings that I have seen on BN. Seriously. This couple has good taste and the wedding felt opulent without being tacky. Sometimes, in an effort to be different or to one-up others, couples miss road and end up with a tacky wedding with too many ghetto elements. As for the bride, she is absolutely gorgeous. After two children, she still looks slim and fresh.
