BN featured a clip of Nollywood star Genevieve Nnaji‘s interview with CNN’s Pedro Pinto for African Voices. Now we have the complete interview.
The interview aired on CNN International this weekend and was filmed in London when Genevieve was in the city for the premiere of her new movie “Mirror Boy“.
We get to see Genevieve without makeup (brave!) as she gets ready for the premiere, after that she sits with Pedro for the interview. It was definitely an insightful interview as she discussed her career, Nigeria and much more.

      • Chikalaka March 28, 2011 at 10:31 PM

Yay I am…phew was scared of the so called “the Amaka” . Well Genny did well. Normal interview I would say. Nothing I would take away as a life lesson or whatever but its good to see her in an interview. She doesn’t do them often. Also good to she her passion for Nigeria.

    • Jade March 28, 2011 at 10:06 PM

love ya Genny, Keep on keeping on

    • Chichi. March 28, 2011 at 10:09 PM

She’s good!! I like her. I hope other nigerian celebrities learn from her.

    • Olivia March 28, 2011 at 10:13 PM

Very proud of her and all she’s achieved and continues to achieve. She just proves that dreams do come true and if you’re that passionate, that confident, that true to yourself and your talent, the world WILL take notice. I’d love for us to see the positive in these clips and reawaken our own innate passions and patriotic fire….this can be viewed from a narrow personal lens and focus on that’s presumably wrong with Ms Nnaji OR this can be viewed as a mirror through which we all view ourselves and all that we can be personally and the parts that we can all play as citizens of a nation faced with immense but SURMOUNTABLE challenges!!! MUCH RESPECT Ms Nnaji….keep on repping Naija!!!

Thank God for Genevieve. God bless you dear. She is so passionate about Nigeria and this is the kind of attitude every Nigerian should cultivate. Let us stop acting as if the country owe us a lot. Interviews like this don’t just make you proud but it also set fire inside you. God bless you Genevieve, God bless BN, God bless the good people of Nigeria, God bless Nigeria and give us leaders that wil lead the country to greater heights.

Positive thinking breaths positive results. This is the mind set we really need to cultivate as Nigerians because the more we say it and believe it our hearts the more we act upon it and gradually bring change. Her feelings for her country might have played a major part in her growth and success in it. Some of her colleagues have fled abroad at some point in their careers… likes of Dakore, Monalisa, Rita , Jim Iyk, Jennifer Eliogu..etc. Genny could afford to do the same but she didn’t. She deserves all the accolades she’s getting now is the truth.

    • bobbydox March 29, 2011 at 10:03 AM

so your minds have all changed people hmmmmmmmmmmmm well GENEVIEVE NNAJI has really made people feel and believe in themselves so just learn now from someone who all through the years have gone through fire and still breathing fine

    • honey koko March 29, 2011 at 12:02 PM

      I love u Genny.d best,dats wat u r.

    • Miss Tilii March 29, 2011 at 2:06 PM

EXACTLY! this is exactly what i was saying on my blog when i reviewed “SACRED LIES”-

She saids in this interview “I want to be FURTHER CHALLENGED” and this is where the problem in nollywood – people like Genevieve and Rita Dominic have hit the glass ceiling and they can not be challenged by the director or producers – Genny needs to be further challenged and i agree 100% she needs to be. I cannot pinpoint 1 producer/director in nollywood who can do that as of yet – am still waiting to see. I love her dearly and wish her so well. May the year 2011 bring her all her heart desire and bring her in contact with the best director who can challenge her to the fullest. If Leonardo DiCaprio was not continually challenged by Martin Scorcese he wouldnt have grown as an actor as much as he has over the years. I know Hollywood has never been Gennys priority at all (from conversation) but at this point you may need to be looking in that direction if no director/producer in nollywood is going to challenge you. Or maybe look at workign with another director or producer on the continent of africa – outside of nollywood, cos clearly in nollywood – they have proven time without number that its saturated by majority director/producers who are in to make the quick buck and return on investment quick rather than improve as an industry (script wise especially) to reach international level (we salute the FEW who are trying hard to raise the bar).

That was grate from an intelligent lady.Keep up Genny

    • NNENNE March 29, 2011 at 4:50 PM

I very much respect Genevieve’s desire to live in Nigeria and work from there but there is absolutely nothing wrong in people seeking for greener pastures. Even if you travel from Nigeria to America for PR, just like Omotola did, it is fine. I really respect her for doing that. It is a mark of bravery and hard work. No man is an island. There are other nationals living in Nigeria too. The most important thing is to represent your country well wherever you are. Always remember that you are your country ambassador.
Again, people should stop comparing actors/actresses.Each and everyone of them is special in thier way. Nigeria is blessed with so many of them.A lot more will emerge also.We are hardworking, talented group of people. BN bloggers, enough already!!!!!!!!!!

Great interview. I’m really happy to be represented by this beautiful, classy, measured & intelligent lady. Go Genevieve!!

    • Irene April 5, 2011 at 9:30 AM

I absolutely love this lady> she did it on Oprah, she did it on CNN Connector of the day, now she’s doing it again. Her sense of simplicity- her moderate make up, simple dress, beautiful hairsyle. Even Pedro Pinto is so wawed by this African Queen.
Now Omotola should go and take some fashion lesson from her. She most never go to grammy like that again (the first time she went on an international scene, and she was a total disgrace while Genny has been doing it flawlessly) I LOVE U SOOO MUCH GENNY!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

    • Pammie April 6, 2011 at 7:42 AM

She is simply awesome as she represents and respects her root instead of promoting our western counterpart.

    • chika April 8, 2011 at 5:44 PM

Gene,i’m so proud of you.i’m always proud to be a nigerian come rain or sun & i’m happy you represent that!.i liked what you said about all countries having negative and positive side to them.very true!.all nigerians should love & embrace their root cos it’s the right thing to do.
