BN Cuisine With Chef Fregz: Kitchen Tips For The Win

Hey there, I hope you guys had a great week so far? My week has been really busy and in the coming weeks I’ll be able to share some of the recipes I’ve been trying out with you guys.

Did you try out the recipe from last week? If you did I hope it was a hit. You know, even if you didn’t get it right the first time, you can always try it again and again until you get it right. Cooking is fun and you should always be able to try something different every time.

Today, I bring you some good ‘kitchen tip’ tidings. If you missed the first one I did, you can check out the link here. It’s important to note that keeping the kitchen sanitary and minimize waste.

Ziploc bags: Portion out chicken, beef even sauces, and freeze if you don’t have a big freezer and want to cook batches

of food. Ziploc bags are always handy in the kitchen and you should always have them at your disposal. If you have any issues with ants in your sugar, toss the sugar in the bags and lock tight it to keep the ants out.

Cloves, (small stud looking spice used in baking and zobo making) at points where ants come from and they would run at the smell of cloves!

Use warm water and little soap to wash nonstick surfaces like pans, oven pans etc. wash using a soft sponge. When using non stick pans use silicon or wooden utensils never the iron/steel sponge. Even if some burns are really bad, be patient and just allow the pot soak, it’ll come off in time.

Cans: Don’t leave cans opened with the content in the fridge. Always empty the content into a plastic pack and dispose of the can immediately

Garlic: Place garlic cloves in olive oil and leave in the fridge for a week to get garlic flavoured oil. You can  blend a whole sack of garlic and place in the fridge or freezer and use as you like which makes life easy and you don’t get your hands smelly.

Cook with already boiling water from the kettle as it helps to reduce your general cooking time.

Grind some regular salt in your mixer/grinder for some time every month. This will keep your mixer blades sharper for longer.

To cut grease and odour on dishes, add a tablespoon of vinegar to hot soapy water wash and the smell should be gone!

Don’t throw that pack of soggy fries/chips away! You can still use it. Preheat the oven to about180 degrees. Spread the chips or crackers in a single layer on a baking sheet and bake for about 5 minutes or till crisp again

Roll a lime or lemon on the board with the ball of your palm to get the most of it when you juice or heat a couple in the microwave for a few seconds before juicing.

I hope you found some of these tips useful. Make sure you cook something this weekend and have a fun weekend.

Ciao
