South African Designer Thula Sindi gives a “Window into the Thula Sindi Woman” at Labo Ethnik Fashion Weekend in Paris
The 7th edition of the Labo Ethnik Fashion Weekend (LEFW) just rounded off in Marais District of Paris on Friday 21st June 2013, and it was a labyrinth of artists and designers from different backgrounds, who presented their creations to the world.
Among the talents that showcased their designs was South Africa Tourism “Designer of the Year 2012” Thula Sindi. The designer presented his ready – to – wear female collection to fashion influencers such as Alphadi (Fashion Designer and creator of the International Festival of African fashion, Nigeria) and American R&B neo-soul singer Eric Bennet. His collection had an infusion of urban African influences and elements of his recent Johannesburg Fashion Week collection which took place in March.
According to Thula, “I wanted to give them a window into the Thula Sindi woman and how sophisticated she is, as well as how all the elements of what I have shown these past two seasons can work together.”
Other South African designers who represented SA at the Labo Ethnik Fashion Weekend were Stoned Cherrie, Abigail Betz and Sindiso Khumalo.
