ThistlePraxis Consulting recently held its 3rd edition of the African Round-Table Corporate Sustainability & Responsibility conference in Calabar from Thursday 20th to Friday 21st June 2013. The conference had the theme: “Driving Innovation through Transformational Leadership & Sustainability”.
Gracing the event as keynote speaker was the Founder & CEO of Mara Group of Companies, Ashish Thakkar, with other notable speakers such as the Chief host, His Excellency, the Executive Governor, Cross River State, Senator Liyel Imoke; Co-founder and Head of Consultancy Services, Sustainable Square Consultancy, Monaem Ben Lellahom; Honorary Fellow, MBS Institute for Innovation Research, Prof. Susan Maddock; Group CEO, AIM Group of Companies, Amin Moussalli; CEO, The CSR Company International, Martin Neureiter; President & Chief Executive Officer, Value Fronteira Limited, Dr. Martin Oluba; Managing Director, Environmental Accord Nigeria, Ibrahim Salau; Special Adviser to the CBN Governor on Sustainable Banking, Dr. Aisha Mahmood, and Lead Consultant, ThistlePraxis Consulting, Ini Onuk.
According to the convener of the event, “There is a need in Africa for leaders to transform their leadership styles in order to foster innovation and promote sustainability, not just in terms of longevity, but for critical sector contributions to sustainable development.”
The Conference, which spanned two days, featured a pre-conference investment cocktail, two CEO Round-table sessions, conference, a Sustainable Solution showcase with selected eco-entrepreneur winners Mazi Ukonu of RecyclePoints Limited and Nkemdilim Begho of Future Software Limited. It also had a Gala dinner where sponsors, Diamond Bank and Shell Nigeria, and speakers were recognized and presented plaques in recognition of their various contributions to the conference.
