For the past three days on Twitter, Nigerians have been dragging UK radio station Beats 1 for calling Wizkid a “rising Nigerian star”.

The @beats1 Twitter handle had sent out a tweet urging people to vibe to Wizkid’s “Daddy Yo” song and called him a rising Nigerian star but Nigerians are not having it.

With memes, tweets and gifs, Nigerians have expressed how they feel about having their Starboy referred to as a rising star.

    Nigerian youths are creative.
Only if they can use this creativity for something productive.
He is a rising international star world wide. He may be an OG in naija but d rest of the world is just getting to know him.

They didn’t say rising international star, they said rising Nigerian star and we all know he is not rising, he is on top … so stop picking sides and face the words literally

Where in my comment did I explicitly say or even insinuate that Wizkid is not “on his journey to being a legend”?
Did you read my comment or are you like the foolish Nigerian youth on Twitter getting butthurt and responding with unfunny memes just because they lack understanding?
