‎Ex-internationals, coaches and sports writers will on Tuesday play a novelty match in honour of late coaches Shaibu Amodu and Stephen Keshi.‎

The Edo Football Association Chairman, Frank Ilaboya, who disclosed this on Monday in Benin said the match was part of burial plans for the late Keshi.

The News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) reports that both coaches had resided in Benin before their demise, with Keshi passing on on June 8 and Amodu on June ‎11 in Benin.‎

While Amodu has since been buried, Keshi’s burial will be preceded by ceremonies in Abuja, Lagos, Benin and his hometown Illah in Delta between July 27 and July 29.

The 40-day Fidau prayers for the late Amodu Shaibu will however be held in Okpella on Wednesday.

“The novelty match is part of the burial plans which the Edo government has put in place for both the late former Super Eagles coaches,” Ilaboya said.

He added that the state’s Commissioner for Sports, Presley Ediagbonya who is the Chairman, Planning Committee for the Shaibu Fidau Prayers, was working hard to ensure things went accordingly.

“A Candles Night procession will hold also on Tuesday as from 7 p.m., starting from the Ovonranmwan Square, popularly known as Ring Road, to the Samuel Ogbemudia Stadium.

But the Commissioner for Sports is on top of everything, working with Edo Government House officials to put all arrangements in proper shape,” he said.

Meanwhile, the Traditional Council of Illah town in Delta have said they have prepared ground for the traditional burial rites of the late Keshi.
