In this post, we’re going to do a style recap on a few things to note when styling your bump. Before we begin, one key thing to remember about styling your bump and styling in general is balance.

Finding a balance between things like hemlines, exposure, volume, accessorising or sexiness is very important with styling. Too much or too little of one element could kill an outfit, so moderation and balance are key things to consider.

We’ve seen some recurring trends so we’ll take each one at a time.

Jackets

This has to be the most popular trend amongst our stylish mums. Long or short, in any fabric, a jacket is a great way to style your bump. It reduces attention on your bump without completely hiding it. It’s also a great way to embrace a sexy pencil dress or casual trousers without fully exposing the bump, it helps to balance exposure, volume and sexiness. See some examples below.

Flaunt Your Legs

When you’re pregnant, you can still dress sexy. Another popular, sexy way we’ve seen mum style their bump is flaunting their best features or their slender features. Your belly is inevitably big during this period and you just might add a bit of weight but that doesn’t mean you should cover it all up, because you might look bigger! Show some skin, see examples below.

Even though a lot of people didn’t like this look on Kim Kardashian West, you have to admit that exposing that let really helped this outfit, or it could have been worse.

A Sexy Décolletage

If you have great boobs and they’re your best feature, covering them up won’t help, so flaunt them! A V neckline is a great way to do this because it also elongates your face and makes you look slimmer. If you feel it’s too much exposure, balance it out by covering other parts of your body or add a jacket. See examples below.

Sexy Sheer

If you don’t want to expose your skin too much, opt for outfits with a sheer detail for that extra bit of sexy. See examples below.

Trousers  & Jumpsuits

Balance is also important here. Balance out skinny jeans/tights with a loose fitted top or vice versa, expose a bit of skin to make is sexy as well. See examples.

High Waist Styles

A high wait cut for a dress, trousers or skirt is important because it gives you a waist when your belly makes you look like you have no waist definition. It’s also a great way to get away with wearing a crop top! See examples.

Dresses

Short, long, fitted/pencil or loose/flared, the outfit possibilities with dresses are endless when you’re preggerz. You can wear just about any dress, just be careful with exposure and hemlines. Short dresses are nice to flaunt your legs but for balance, make it a flared style if you don’t want a pencil dress, or add a jacket. Go for a maxi dress with a thigh high slit or V neckline for a bit of sexiness if you want to. See examples.

Mix Trends in a Tasteful Way

Find a tasteful way to combine these tips for a great look/outfit. One of my favourites would have to be Chrissy Teigen on the cover of InStyle Magazine with her baby bump. All the key trends were done in a very tasteful way and she looked gorgeous. See other examples.
