dreamstime_m_74429572It is important that, as career persons, we honestly evaluate and analyse ourselves, so we can recognise and identify our own strong points and pitfalls. Here, I am referring to the improvement of your technical and professional abilities –  as well as improving your personal qualities and character traits. Both of these are important – if you are going to make a remarkable improvement in your career.

Your personal leadership qualities and your technical and professional development must be improved, going into the New Year. It is important you carry out the necessary self inventory.

Self analysis is defined as the process of studying and examining one’s personality, emotions and behaviour. In psychology, the process involves an understanding or comprehension of the individual’s subconscious and conscious mind.
You cannot set out on a career or self improvement program unless you know and fully understand your current capabilities and as well as your present limitations. That is the only way you will ever be able to strengthen your good points and get rid of your weak ones.

The truth is that you must be self motivated enough to want to achieve improvement in your career going forward. You cannot be wishy-washy about self improvement and getting rid of your weak points.
If you are really serious and passionate about improving yourself and your career, take a good long objective look at yourself in the mirror. Have plenty of courage when you do. Take a true inventory to find your strong points and isolate your weak ones. Then make an honest effort to eliminate your weak ones. Improve and strengthen those where you are already strong.

In doing this, you have to be completely honest with yourself. Take a complete and unbiased audit. To lie to yourself at a time like this will accomplish absolutely nothing for you at all. Any kind of personal development endeavour involves a lot of aspects to consider and apply in order to realise one’s potential. Once you identify theses potentials, you build on them as your strength and they eventually become an asset that can empower you as a career person and take you to greater heights. No one else knows you better than yourself. You have to get in touch with yourself.

There are various means to conduct self analysis. A regular evaluation of potentials and weaknesses can make you realise what you need to develop more and what needs to be changed or even eliminated. Find out how well you handle positive and negative emotions. Know your personal behaviours and take stock of your professional results now. Be keen on what turns other people off, and what attracts them about your personality.

One of the things you can do this period is to visit a career coach and take some personality tests to provide you objective explanations of your personality issues and how they translate to professional success.

If you are interested in establishing yourself as a successful career person, then you must create an inner connection with your personality. When you become immersed in the corporate world, self analysis is very important. As you go through several experiences, you should continually run a personal inventory of your journey and commit to continuous personal development.

Have a great week ahead.
