Wow! This Twitter User’s distressing experience with a Driver will shock you

Twitter user @juiciestofjays today shared a story of how she was sexually assaulted by a driver attached to online ride hailing app, Taxify. She recounted that in establishing a conversation with her, he touched the topic of sexual orientation and she mentioned being a lesbian. The driver then reached out to confirm as according to him, “lesbians don’t react to male touch“.

She has however reported the issue to the Taxify authorities and he was promptly taken off the platform.

We applaud her bravery and we are glad legal action is being taken to deter future perpetrators of this distressing act.

Well………, I don’t know what to say, except can we even call this a sensitive issue since the problem has been taken care of by taxify? *flies away*

Don’t mind that fool. He’s a typical Nigerian misogynist who takes pleasure in blaming a woman for everything. Senseless lot. Well done my dear.

@ENE, I don’t think Micah blamed the lady for the assault. He/She thought the lady should have just simply ignored the driver when he started the conversation.

It took 37mins for taxify to find the driver culpable and take him off their platform, impressive!…I hope she isn’t lying though…let the police investigate properly and tell us their findings… are people this barbaric?!
Iniobong, come and defend yourself if you are not guilty

We can all see the accused pleading on tape, yet someone still hopes “she isn’t lying”. Why else would he be on his knees if no wrong had been done? ?

@Anon let’s not take away from the gravity of this… …but take note, the accused was on “a knee”, not on both his knees ? Forget me and my pedantic self – focus on the matter at hand…

See this ‘porsche’ personality o…on his knee means he sexually assaulted her? Something else could have happened; altercation, contentious argument caused by their very odd conversation about her sexual orientation…he may have insulted her in the process by shaming her for being gay, realised his bad and went on his knee begging not to be reported for being ‘unethical’ and ‘unprofessional’… something else may have happened…this video doesn’t carry substantial evidence abeg

Is it now legal to be a lesbian in Nigeria? The driver messed up big-time. On the other hand, how easy it was for the lady to discuss her sexual orientation with a total stranger is wawuu.

    1. Its a crime to be a lesbian in Nigeria. So she confessed to that and no one said anything about it.
    2. What lead to that conversation? You were discussing sexual orientation with a stranger eh?
    3. It is most likely you started that topic and lead him on.
    4. So he reached out across from the drivers seat to whereever you were, pulled down your bra eh and found your hard nipples. Well you are the juiciest. Oshe juice factory. Nonsense
    5. You are lying. Why you always lying. You just want to trend Ma.
    6. Sexual assault is a serious crime though. Taxify hasnt released a statement yet eh?.
    7. We need to know that so many unstable people are outchea tryn to kick start they art careers trending.

I am very sorry to hear what happened to you. Be mindful in Nigeria sexual assault, rape, homosexuality all have significant jail terms attached to them. Dear lady you disclosed lesbianism you just confessed to breaking a Nigerian law. sexual assault is still under investigation, Infact it is your word against this truly dispeakable creature. The driver has not confessed to ANYTHING. The only confession to breaking a Nigerian law is from you. Basically it is he’s word against yours. You get my drift. I understand you are hurt, understandably aggrieved and annoyed However I wish you had avoided the knee jerk reaction of getting on social media to announce your sexual orientation in a country like NIGERIA. The law hasn’t changed oh. However you can always retract your earlier statement and say you LIED and said you were a lesbian to discouraged the lewd sexual overtures of the driver. So many rapist get off on little technicalities and invisible loopholes, victims are treated like criminals while perpetrators of disgusting crimes get off to rape and assault again. My advise to you is we need to get animals like this off the street, get a lawyer to defend you. Stay off social media. lets be clear there is Only one case to answer here, that of sexual assault Notting else. dear lady do not compound issues.Gay activists in the house for the best interest of this lady let’s not get your agendas twisted in the main issue here. Save that battle for a better day when the law is in your favour.

The law says committing sexual acts is illegal not being gay. Already the entire epistle you wrote is rubbish. You people chatting rubbish as if people don’t get harassed for doing nothing. No one has a right to anyone’s body without invitation, it’s that simple

“Any person who registers, operates or participates in gay clubs, societies and organisations or directly or indirectly makes public show of same-sex amorous relationship in Nigeria commits an offence and shall each be liable on conviction to a term of 10 years in prison.” All that is needed to enforce this law is confession to the fact. In this case she is half way there.
The problem with no good busybody/ prying / mischief people like you Anon is that you are all noise with absolutely no substance. Very happy to beat war drums from your anonymity position but will never hold up a placard for gay rights where it actually matters hence you go by the anon name. why don’t you put up a face, actual name and address to your support hum?. Yeyefowl. I just hope she has friends who can give her practical advise on NIGERIAN LAW. meanwhile anon if you are looking for war, go and start your own okay.

You people bringing up her lesbianism are nowhere to be found on the other posts on rape victims on the blog today. Clearly you’re only into victim blaming and don’t care about rape

Anon when you got the courage to weaver your anonymity to support gay rights then take to a podium with loud speaker. For now don’t jump onto to someone’s platform to preach your cause in the name of support, thank you. Assault has taken place dat is the crime. She can sue and get a good compensation. She should not complicate issues by bringing in homosexuality, na Nigeria we DEY we all know the law. When you are in Rome behave like a Roman.

@kina I work with gay people and rape victims in Nigeria. I raise funds for displaced victims and file legal work to keep them safe from unjust imprisonment and to get whatever justice we can from the Nigerian system (I’m a lawyer). I know the law, and clearly, you do not. Please take your homophobia and anger elsewhere. Please, shut up

      July 29, 2017 at 1:30 pm

I hear you !!!!you defend the oppressed but are too scared to backup your comments with a real name. Please tell us what law firm you rep so people can avoid. You soooo clearly do not know the Law. sexual preference is not being disputed here. You dont need to be a lawyer to understand that homosexuality will not help her case in a country like nigeria. Cyber laywer, me sef na chief judge.

    July 29, 2017 at 1:09 pm

Also @kina what does Her homosexuality have to do with the story. Someone saying she’s a lesbian doesn’t translate to “I want to be touched by a total stranger”. If you’re truly a good Christian (which you probably think you are), your first instinct wouldn’t be to snidely judge or blame a victim.

  15. Kina

    July 29, 2017 at 5:09 pm

@anon The only person judging here is yourself anon. It is you ignorantly calling people homophobic for simply advising this girl not to disclose her sexuality in n a country like Nigeria as it would not help her case. The system is rigged against homosexuals ( everyone knows it) and it would be unfair not to point this fact out to her. Her relatives and friends people who love and care for her will advise her same too. The main issue is she was assaulted shikena let justice be served on that fact. No need to complicate issues THIS IS NIGERIA You need to replace that victim chip from your shoulder and replace it with common sense. Honestly for a lawyer you make whack baseless arguments that don’t help. Please sit down or stand on your own podium in front of a police station and sing about gay rights in Nigeria.
