When it is time to talk, we will talk - Ooni of Ife on Split with Wife - BellaNaijaThe Ooni of Ife Adeyeye Enitan Ogunwusi has in a statement through his Director of Media and Public Affairs Moses Olafare spoken on his split with former Olori Wuraola, now Zaynab-Otiti Obanor.

The former Olori had in a statement released on her Instagram confirmed the split, saying she is moving on to the next phase of her life.

In a call with Nigerian Tribune, the Ooni through Olafare said:

In this era of social media, where people have free access to internet, as constitutionally permitted by laws of the land, people can say anything.

In spite of all being said on the issue, decorum still requires that we in the House of Oduduwa maintains silence, at least for now.

This is because marriage is strictly a private matter that should not subjected to undue public uproar. When it is necessary for us to talk, we will surely talk on the issue.

This is the side effect of social media folks, it’s a choice though. I sometimes miss the enigmatic times but I’m here for anyone who spills his/her own tea including the drama up in the palace.

For the sake of the Yoruba cultural heritage the Ooni should PLEASE chill a bit and not marry any woman for now. He should take his time to rethink what lessons he has learnt from this MESS and focus on promoting our culture and strengthening his relationship with his subjects. He needs to understand what type of woman should be his Queen, this is essential since that woman will be the model for all Yoruba women. This woman came to desecrate our institution and the ooni was to blame-there were younger Obas in history that made better judgement than he has shown. There is no rush finding a befitting queen for the Yorubas. I am sure there is a Yoruba woman out there that can be trained and polished up for this very important cultural role. No matter whose fault it was that led to this disgraceful situation, this woman should be completely stripped of any title -it is better for this to be quickly left in the past. She is NOT a royal highness(unless she continues to smoke the weed I have read she smokes),she was certainly not a Queen material. The whole ordeal should just melt into history-this has been a major embarrassment. We have to look past the social media drama and commentary and consider the impact to the Yoruba Cultural Heritage which surmounts even the Oba himself.

@Biker Chic, obviously you didn’t read that I blamed the Ooni for the mess 2x. Maybe your “ganja” is stronger than the one your friend smokes. I don’t think you should be riding you know – you can’t reason clearly and may be a danger to other road users. Shioor!

Is there anyone out there that passed english comprehension that can interpret my comment to @Biker Chic, because she obviously does not understand how to read and see blame when put right in front of her nose. I fear for the people on the road when you are riding your bike…your ‘ganja” strong pass the person whose parasol you are taking.

    TRANSLATION:
Let her say whatever she likes it’s her mouth let her run it .’We’ will marry as many wives as possibl because that’s what tradition allows .We won’t respond to her shade until we are sure our new olori is knocked up .If God forbid she isn’t we will simply embarrass the erstwhile Queen with salacious gossip .

Meanwhile somewhere in America the erstwhile olori is being comforted by her next husband ….

    August 31, 2017 at 12:50 pm

Oga Ooni you are not even supposed to marry this woman in the first place, you should’ve known it wont last. Royal men/heirs/kings dont marry women that’s been associated with different men in the past and worse when the men are well known. Even in England, princess diana was believed to be a virgin when she married prince charles at 20 or how many of kate middletons ex boyfriends have you heard about.

Gbam. Lesson to every one from the Royal family, …..because no one knows tomorow train every royal kid ethics and nobility from the womb if possible.

From toddler start hammering “you are a prince, you are to exhibit noble character” into their ears. Even the King himself does not have a good pedigree in business and that is why i thought they might work since they were both of questionable character.

Little did we know they were only there to scam each other.

Gbamest! He is a razz boy that became king by chance not by grace. He is an elebi of questionable character and clout. He has commonized that throne. No one has regards for him. Iba e o olubuse sijuade. That man made royalty desirable because he carried himself with class and prestige. He rarely made public appearances and when he did, it was a friggin big deal. Enitan ogunwusi was not raised with any cloak of prestige or class (prestige is not about money, you can have class without being rich) . I knew he was not raised well nor groomed properly when he picked Wuraola just for business ties. I mean the girl is on her 3rd husband for crying out loud shouldn’t that be an abomination? Go and ask them Tejuosho how to keep things classy at least on the surface

Make Zaynab, Sophia, Chikodi, Itohan, Otiti Obanor go and sit down. A true the rate she changes names who knows if she is really from NIGERIA. The last post where she and her goons were bashing Ooni and claiming they should check the paternity of his first child shows she is insane. Was she not peddling a fake bump a while ago? So how do we explain that one. Will she admit she lied about being pregnant or she got pregnant and had a miscarriage. From what I hear the Ooni has already married about 3 women since she left. Let her quietly move on with her life and drop the olori title. She’s only one as long as she is married to an Oba. Before they send out disclaimer on her use of the title to further cause her embarrassment. Whose highness is she? Highness of Obanor.

To be a queen is not easy in any part of the world, its not about the glitz&glam. In my opinion the queen should have waited before she jumped on the wagon and married the ooni, also the king should have waited a while to know what it takes to be one before he married the ex olori. Marriage isn’t bed of roses, its has plenty thorns. An being married to an African king there are so much thorns and you really have to be strong to sit on the throne. Ex olori should remain calm and all the press releases and focus more on herself. Its more dignifying after a while something new would distract people from her.she was a queen and she should act it even if she isn’t again(yea she wants to clear herself). Even the ooni has kept mute. Every side always has a story which they would tell in their favor.

Honestly, the role of the OLORI of the OONI of IFE no be small work at all. Its not just a wife title, its a leader, mother, and so many other kinda Role. Not to sound somehow, but it’s going to be hard to find a woman in this generation that will take on that Role without paying the ultimate price which is HER LIFE (not in death) but her identity, her freedom, her voice, her heart…..It’s not easy

many years before, today and to come their is always Olori in yoruba land,no scandal, bad news from day 1, till this world Benin woman come to marry Ooni. any way that sit is to big for present Ooni, is a young model man. next time, when going for ooni , age from 50 is better not young man of 40, is to young to know, and if is young, they must teach or tell him what to do and what not to do, not just ruch and put young man,on that sit. Ooni is Image of our father Oduduwa, not small sit to sit, and never any marry woman, with kids, to be olori in yoruba land. even Uk lady D was virgin age 20 when marry ,european for that matter.Alafin 78 ys, always marry young Virgin woman, never know hwo other men look like, so no bad news from second yoruba home of oyo. never any yoruba Oba send old Olori out, for another new Olori to come, she have child or not. i cant remember the name of 1 time Oduduwa, 1 of is wife dont have kids, but he didnt divorce or send her out, even he love her so much. that reason we have Olori Agba, the first Olori, late Ooni have 4-5 wifey with peaceful ,no bad news. any way we all make mistake, he will never go for woman like this again and we want only yoruba from good home to be Olori in our father home land Ile-Ife, if not he should step down, yoruba get Ooni that will bring respect and good news for us, we now become fool of other tribes, writting nonesse about this marriage to Sonia everyday day by day.
