Cape Town’s most fashionable and glamourous streamed into Kenilworth Racecourse over the weekend in their elegant blue and white outfits to be part of the 157th edition of the L’Ormarins Queen’s Plate Racing Festival.

The 2-day event saw over 5000 attendees, including international celebrities, racing fans and socialites from around the world.

On the Friday guests at the Garden Party were greeted by a full jazz band entertaining beautiful guests as they sipped on bottomless L’Ormarins Brut and Heineken while enjoying a delectable harvest table of gourmet delights.

On Saturday, thousands of Cape Town’s successful and beautiful arrived in their most stylish blue and white, to be part of one of the unmissable social occasions of the year. International and local celebrities and socialites were there to be part of the fun, most notably TV and radio personalities Bonang Matheba, Nomzamo Mbatha, Maps Maponyane, Tumi Voster, Cindy Nell, Liezl van der Westhuizen, Enhle Mbali Maphumulo and Leigh-Anne Williams, sport stars such as Chad le Clos, Jean-marc Johannes and Herschelle Gibbs and hip-hop artist Major League DJz.

@SoniaPaloma It’s tradition to dress up for races, usually formal dressing with crazy hats and fascinators for the ladies. I don’t know why and when the tradition began but people generally dress to the nines just to go watch horses run. That said, they all look fabulous!

Off topic but I noticed many South African native names begin with an “m” or “Th”.

Any South African here to educate us on why?

One thing I love about South Africa, they are so much classier with a better infrastructure and economy, yet THEY DON’T MAKE NOISE LIKE SOME Do. And they have better TV shows too.

Y’all could learn from them like seriously

My Partner Miguel, took all these stunning Pic’s. I would be the first to say, if I didn’t think they were “up to scratch” but, I think they are stunning! He deserves recognition for all his photographic work?
