All Progressives Congress (APC) candidate, Smart Adeyemi is again the senator representing Kogi west.

In 2015, Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) candidate, Dino Melaye defeated Adeyemi in the February election, but the tribunal and appeal court annulled Melaye’s victory and ordered a rerun election.

On November 16, the rerun held ended up inconclusive, and the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) scheduled Saturday (November 30) for a supplementary election.

According to The Cable, the result of the exercise, monitored by Olayinde Lawal, the returning officer of the election, declared Adeyemi winner at the end of election.

Smart Adeyemi got 88,373 votes to defeat Dino Melaye who polled 62,133 votes.

Lawal said there were 161,979 accredited voters out of the 432,515 registered. He said 152,033 votes were valid out of the 155,253 cast, while 3,250 were rejected.
