Chioma Ukonu, Chibuihe Obi Speak at Owerri’s First Ever TEDx Event

Owerri, the Imo state capital has joined major cities to host an independent TEDx event.

The event which held on May 290, 2017 had the theme “Unleash the Dragon”. It attracted students, youths, entrepreneurs, academia and technocrats. Some of the distinguished personalities who spoke at the event included Chioma Ukonu, co-founder RecyclePointsConfidence Odionye, Founder of BeatTraffick; Chibueze Ikedi of Learn FactoryKennedy Ekezie, a young activist; and Chibuihe Obi, a professional Teacher.

The speakers in line with the theme discussed waste recycling, usefulness of drones in modern society, introducing children to technology early in life, the urgency to end female genital mutilation and adopting effective teaching methodology in schools.

TEDxAladinma is licensed by TED, a US-based not-for-profit enterprise devoted to the propagation of ideas worth spreading. It celebrates and spreads locally-driven ideas in technology, science, entertainment, design and business, through conferences in more than 100 languages across the world.

In January 2017, Emeka Ulor was licensed to host TEDxAladinma as a standard TEDx event for Imo.
