The Fashion Workshop is back with the Abuja Fashion Workshop proudly sponsored by Aero Contractors. The initiative which was started by Emmy Collins, is aimed at teaching aspiring and upcoming designers the aspects of fashion designing that would help them make it to the top. This includes branding, product placements, seasons, the business of fashion, how to create standard business plans, the importance of quality production and much more.
The event, which had it’s first edition in Lagos, will be accommodating more fashion design hopefuls this time around in order to enlighten as many as possible. Ace Photographer, Kelechi Amadi-Obi will also be available to mentor the attendees on the essence of confidence when venturing into any creative industry.
At the Lagos edition of the workshop, the budding designers mentioned certain challenges encountered in the business such as lack of quality fabrics, professional pattern cutters, quality machinists, trimmings etc. The solution proferred by Emmy Collins is to designate a one-stop location/workshop where designers can source fabrics, trimmings and also get their samples made at subsidized and affordable rates. This of course will require funding but it is absolutely achievable. The ultimate aim of the workshop is to grow the industry by providing infrastructure, motivation and raw materials.
Date: Saturday 23rd February 2013.
Time: 9AM – 12 Noon.
Venue: Tucano, 23 Usuma Street, Off Gana Street, Maitama, Abuja.
