Media personality Toolz, amongst many other things, has a column in OK! Nigeria magazine where she shares her honest opinion on an array of different topics. In the most recent May 2013 edition, Toolz talked about having kids and celebrity mums.

On Having Kids

“A lot of people think that at my age (30) you should have kids, but I’m not in a rush. I think I’m part time broody. I have tons of nieces and nephews that give me the ‘experience’ of being around children and looking after them to the point where after two days, I’m like “Here! Take them back!” Women shouldn’t feel pressured to rush into motherhood with the first man they meet. Society expects women to live their lives in a formula way, with having children being the ultimate goal but that shouldn’t be how it works.Women need to be able to make a choice and be respected for that. If they choose to have kids at 25 or 30 great. If they say that they don’t want them at all, that’s fine too. It makes more sense for women who don’t want to have children to be able to make that decision and not be vilified. Why should a woman bring a child into the world who isn’t wanted and could end up having a miserable childhood?

“I’m an old fashioned girl at heart so I want to get married before I seriously think about having children but I can definitely say that I see kids in my future.

In the column, she also says a few words on celebrity mums Beyonce, Kimora Lee Simmons & Heidi Klum as well as soon-to-be mum Kim Kardashian. For more from her column, grab a copy of OK! Nigeria magazine.
