Dainty Affaris Beauty Meets Sugar Art - BellaNaija - July 2013005

It was a beautiful day of stunning make overs and sugar art at the “Beauty Meets Sugar Art” exhibition organized by Dainty Affairs at Protea Hotel in Lagos on Sunday 9th June 2013.

The exhibition which started at about 2pm had a section of the hall decorated with displays of tiered cakes in different colours and shapes and tasting spots where guests were treated  to cake samples. There was also a section of iced cupcakes, cake slices and deserts which customers could buy.

The second half of the hall was dedicated to all things beauty. From live models in traditional and white wedding dresses to the make up corner where Dainty Affairs make up artists treated guests to short beauty services like powder and lipstick testing. The brand was able to merge two seemingly different arts into one. Take a look at the photos.

At 1st, I was wondering why there was so much makeup on their faces but it all made sense as I went on.
Wish them the best, looked like fun!

Very nicely done. Good job. The Nigerian creative industry is certainly growing and it can only get better. More grease to your elbows dear.

Too much makeup. It distracted from the cakes. Plus details were not on point. Edges not clean or proportions not perfect etc. please adjust these. Haven said that, it’s a good effort in the right direction. Beautiful ideas and soon enough if details are taken more seriously I expect it’ll be perfection. Welldone.

the make-up should better be for the event because no woman in her right mind should wear make-up like this everyday.it would scare people away and nobody will want to hug her especially if they are putting on a white garment.

C’est magnifique! The make-up artist was clearly trying to show versatility by going for the playful, in your face look. The cakes are really beautiful, will surely be giving them a call.

I agree that it is quite clear the make-up artist wasn’t going for the conventional. Some, depending on the level of enlightenment, might call it too much make-up but it is obviously bordering on whimsical, as against everyday makeup. I suppose some people think if it isn’t ‘wedding ready’, it isn’t good. Wonder what they’ll make of the work of the likes of Pat McGrath.

Absolutely beautiful work!! Love the incredible details on the cakes- the beautiful colours, the frills, the bows, the roses, not to mention the cupcake cases- noticed the white & black dogtooth pattern!:-). No doubt there was great attention to details putting all that together- great attributes of a fabulous Cake decorator & Make up artist! Well done…..!
Now to the the Make-up: Love the make up too. Some I won’t have on as I am a not daring when it comes to make-up, but I guess there are different make-up types for various occasions- the everyday make-up, the wedding make-up and the more daring/”out-there” catwalk versions….great to see a versatile display!
All in all- Great job well done!

The title reads combination of beauty and sugar art, I think it is apparent there was a whimsy theme to the cakes and the non-bridal photos. I love the wonky parcel cake and the cerulean cake with rose and gold trappings.
@Ivon…google is quite friendly, isn’t it? Just did a search for Pat McGrath and also for Mr Ignacio Poucel.
