We all have a picture that makes us smile. It can be a holiday snapshot or family photo, a picture of a pet, or an image of a special hobby or that special car. It was to satisfy the need of wanting to take that photo everywhere, to the delight of its card holders and prospective customers, that the United Bank for Africa (UBA) Plc on Friday 2nd August 2013 introduced a customized Debit MasterCard called the ‘All About U’ card. The new card gives customers the privilege of branding their payment card.
According to Deji Olowe (Head of Cards, UBA Plc) the UBA ‘All About U’ card is a card that gives customers the opportunity to carry around their fondest memories while using their debit cards. According to him, cardholders could choose from a gallery of contemporary pre-selected images available at the specialized product portal and these designs would be adjusted to their satisfaction. “Using a design software which seamlessly integrates with the bank’s card management system, the UBA “All About U” card perfectly blends in the UBA brand with the customer’s creative imagination, making the customer a ‘partner-in-design’ while creating a sense of loyalty and enhancing affinity”.
The Divisional Head, e-Banking, UBA Plc, Dr. Yinka Adedeji, stated that with the product, the bank intended to introduce a bespoke look and feel to card issuance. According to him, UBA was at the forefront of driving the cashless initiative in the country.“As the name suggests, it really is all about you -the customer. We all have a picture that makes us smile. It could be a holiday snapshot or family photo, a picture of a pet, or an image of a special hobby or that special car. Whatever it is, customers can create a personal card design with any image of their choice or one chosen from UBA’s contemporary and extensive image library.
He added that the product was targeted “for mass appeal among the young-at-heart customers who can also go ahead to show off their customized card designs to family and friends via emails and several popular social /viral media sites including Twitter and Facebook.”
The Deputy Managing Director, UBA Plc, Kennedy Uzoka while presenting the card noted that the UBA ‘All About U’ card was a good way for customers to express themselves by putting their personal logo and pictures on a card, and most especially it is a very secure card. He noted specifically that with the launch of the Security Operations Centre (SOC) & Forensic Lab that provides all round security monitoring for all electronic banking transactions; the first of its kind for a bank in Nigeria and sub-Saharan Africa, UBA customers have more security for using any of the bank’s e-banking products.
