How We Met
by the bride
I met Ugo in his house in 2009. One Sunday after church, a mutual friend of my sister’s invited us to Ugo’s house for lunch because he lived just by our church. According to Ugo, from the first day he saw me he knew I was his wife ..lol.. In 2010 we hung out in his house on several occasions after church because of this mutual friend. But at that time we both had our different relationships.
In February 2011, my sister had a dinner party for her birthday, so she invited their mutual friend who came along with Ugo. We exchanged numbers this time because he made me laugh all through so I didn’t hesitate to give it to him. I had just got out of my relationship then, and he was having issues with his as well. We started talking a lot and got fond of each other, and despite all the ups and downs we knew we were meant for each other. As time went on feelings grew stronger and before we knew it we had fallen so deeply in love … and on my birthday in July 2012, we couldn’t help but make it official.
It happened in this house on the 13th of July,2013, the day of my sister’s introduction. The night before he kept calling and pleading with me to come to his house before the event started. I told him I wouldn’t have the time, but he insisted.
That morning on my way from the laundry with my sister, cousin and friend I decided to stop by reluctantly at his place because he wouldn’t stop calling.
When I got there I just knew he was missing me and just wanted to spent some time with me…so I said to him……“Now you’ve seen me, hope you’re happy and I can go now”…he just smiled back. As we were all in the room gisting with everyone he called me out and took me to a quiet room…Prior to that time he had mentioned that he would sincerely love to spend the rest of his life with me and we agreed to go buy a ring of my choice in a month’s time in London so I never anticipated what he was up to.
As we got to the room, he asked me to close my eyes. I did and couldn’t wait to open them and as I opened my eyes to my greatest shock he was already on his knees holding a small red box with a diamond ring staring at me!..I was totally speechless because I least expected it. I was in awe and I ran back out of reflex, panting and all I kept saying was…….“OMG!!!…OMG!!!…” I kept screaming until my sister and cousin came to see what was happening 😀
Anwuri & Ugo’s wedding was regal in every way!
At the traditional ceremony, the bride was the center of attention in her embellished blue blouses, custom made by Style Temple. She wore a white crown, signifying her rich Rivers heritage. The groom wore a traditional hat as well, with coral beads gracing his neck. The couple laughed and danced the day away, with their nearest and dearest capturing and enjoying every moment.
At the regal white wedding, the bride wore a custom Warda Haute Couture beaded long sleeve mermaid gown and matching veil, with a crystal headpiece that looked like a crown. The groom was handsome by his bride’s side in a blue Tom Ford suit. The bride and groom enjoyed the jokes of renowned actor/MC Mr Ibu as they cut their cake, and celebrated into the night.
BellaNaija Weddings wishes the couple a happy home, filled with love.
