Ex-minister of State for Works and one-time President of the Energy Strategy Centre Chris Ogiemwonyi has decamped from the PDP to the All Progressives Congress (APC) with over 2,000 followers.
The event to commemorate the milestone took place at the Urhokpota Ground, Oba O Vonramwen Square, Benin City. Ogiemwonyi was welcomed by party leaders and faithfuls. Several ethnic and socio-cultural groups came out to show their support for the current President of the Energy and Engineering Technology Consulting and Energy Group.
From the Arewa group, Igbo Community, Yoruba APC Members to the National Association of Nigerian Students and Students Union Excos who were all in attendance, showing their support.
Ogiemwonyi , who was received by the Edo State APC Chairman, Anselm Ojezua alongside the party secretary Osaro Idah and Charles Idahosa said ” he feels so good to have finally come out of darkness into the marvelous light.”
For a while now, I kept asking myself as a PDP Member if this is how we shall live. If these our Nigerians shall continue to wallow in poverty and stay helpless in a country blessed with milk and honey. I feel so much pain inside of me whenever I think about this and finally decided to effect a change, a change which our great party APC has started.
“I want to consolidate on the good works of the Comrade Governor. Even the blind can see and feel the development going on.
It’s time to vote out PDP cause they’re undemocractic. I left the power industry in 2009 when we needed to generate 6,000 Megawatts of electricity, as at when i was leaving we had already generated almost 5,000 Megawatts but see what we have today, the system is damaged, he said.
Today, I publicly renounce the PDP and I renounce them forever, I am more than glad to be under the leadership of our great party chairman Chief John Oyegun. As an Engineer, I am well calculated. I shocked veryone when I defected from the PDP, I had mapped out my strategy and they were all suprised,” he said.
Ogiemwonyi also lauded his wife, Joy Ogiemwonyi and emphasized the “One Man-One Woman” slogan.
The high point of the event was the arrival of the Edo State Governor, Adams Oshiomhole. His entrance into the venue raised the momentum as the noise ‘Oshio Baba rented the sky’.
“On Behalf of over 2,000 people declaring for APC today, I declare to work with you to take our party to greater heights,” said Ogiemwonyi.
