Pres. Buhari Says Administration is Discovering Banks Where Stolen Oil Money is Deposited
President Muhammadu Buhari is working with the international community to trace and recover stolen national resources.
Buhari revealed the news while speaking with visiting US Congressmen, Vanguard reports.
Special Adviser to the president on Media and Publicity, Femi Adesina, released the following statement on the issue, quoting Buhari (excerpt):
“We are getting cooperation from the international community, including information on ships that take crude oil from Nigeria and change direction, or pour their contents into other ships mid-stream. Some monies were paid to individual accounts. We are identifying the financial institutions and countries that are involved. I have been assured that when we get all our documents together, the United States and other countries will treat our case with sympathy.”
One of the visiting congressmen, Darrel Issa, pledged the support of the US in assisting in investigations, and fighting against Boko Haram.
