Heads of Federal Establishments in Enugu State Donate Relief Materials to Nimbo Victims, Others

The Association of Heads of Federal Establishments in Enugu State on Saturday donated some relief materials to the victims of Nimbo in Uzo-Uwani Local Government of the state that were recently attacked by suspected herdsmen.

The relief materials include: bags of rice, bags of onions, tubers of yams, cartons of tin tomato, noodles and biscuits as well as some Ankara fabrics.

The group led by its Chairman, Ngozi Ucheya was accompanied by some members of the Nigerian Police and the National Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC).

The association used the occasion to pay a condolence visit to Igwe John Akor of Nimbo community.

Ucheya assured the community that President Muhammadu Buhari was doing everything possible to unravel those behind the attack as well as provide adequate security for them and other Nigerians. “We are here to commiserate and sympathise with the people of Nimbo. We have come to pray for peace to be restored here. We want to ask you to clean your tears as President Muhammadu Buhari had given directives to security operatives to fish out the perpetrators of the attack for necessary action,” he said.

Igwe Akor thanked the association for the visit and urged it to continue to pray for them.

The association also visited Reverend Samuel Chukwuemeka, the district vicar and head of Christ Holy Church International, Uzo-Uwani, that was burnt during the attack.

Ucheya presented some items to him and urged the cleric to take heart as efforts were being made to rebuild the community.

“We are here to give you hope and assure you that a lasting solution will be put in place very soon,” he said.

Responding, Chukwuemeka thanked the association for the visit adding that local, state and federal governments as well as the civil society had been assisting them.

One of the students from the town, Nkemdiri Agaba, told the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) that the fear of the unknown had prevented them from going back to school as their parents were afraid to release them out of sight.

The association, however, donated the remaining relief materials to the Internally Displaced Persons (IDPs) at their camp at the St Mary’s Catholic Church, Nimbo.
