Published

Tanker Driver Halts TrafficA truck driver on Thursday reportedly halted traffic along Ore-Ijebu-Ode road after he stopped his vehicle to pray in the middle of the road.

A Facebook user, CHarm Xtova, who shared the photo said:

I do not derive joy from castigating other people’s religion but a tanker driver praying on the highway and keeping us stuck on ore – ijebu ode road is way over the limit.
If u respect your God, You’ll understand how to be considerate.

*stressful day mehn

A similar case occurred some weeks ago in Florida, where a 28-year-old woman crashed her car into a Mary Esther house while driving and praying. She was later taken to the hospital for evaluation. Read it here.

This is what obtains in the north. They block the streets whenever they want to pray. If you make a fuss about it, they will kill you like a dog in the street. I’m just surprised this happened in Lagos.

Nigerian Police / Traffic warden will say nothing but will only act when a dog is given a common noun as a name.

Not surprised; under buhari anything goes. Very soon, before you are employed in any government institution one of the criteria will be your religion and you must be a Muslim.
A responsible government would have condemned the massacre in Enugu; so quick to send condolence message to the Italian government.
I am happy because at the end of the day; the supporters of this government are in this sh*t together. Cowards on BN; where are you guys. APC ! Sai Baba! Chanjiiiiiiiiii

Busarni you’re too much really. Give it a rest. Fulani people were killing under Jonathan you know. I can send you links to articles. These people have been a nuisance since Nigeria gained independence, no be today. Calling people cowards is so unnecessary and shows youthful exuberance maybe? I don’t know.

Mrs chidu; i respect you highly so i will just let it slide. Trust me very soon you will see them in Abriba carrying out their massacre and i pray your relation is not involved. Continue trying to sound politically correct…

@ Mrs. C thank you for saying the truth . It seems she has selective memory. I clearly remember many religious crisis under GEJ and even Obasanjo. One of the worst ones in Lagos was under Obasanjo Infact but according to the agenda here it all just started happening. Really ridiculous how people’s hate for a man can make them rewrite history. Don’t worry in the future we will have another President from their region and I can assure you they will disappear then when such news appears. Too many bigots in this generation , makes me worry Nigeria’s future. If the so called educated ones here are such bigots what can we expect from the illiterates then?

This has absolutely no connection with Buhari. It’s been happening for a very long time. I have seen this countless times in Central Mosque Area in Abuja. People will park their car with no regards to anyone. Buhari isn’t responsible for some idiot choosing to block the road.

    • Damilola

      August 26, 2016 at 2:14 pm

It’s already a criteria, majority of Buhari’s officials are Muslim.. He is very blatant with his true intention. I heard, he closed down the chapel in Aso Rock, not certain how accurate the info is but if it’s true then it’s absolutely unethical. What’s the excuse? it’s too loud? So killing others, being selfish is more tolerable. Other non muslims should have their freedom to worship. Muslims, fulanis have been doing their wrongdoing for years, the difference is they will be more blatant and empowered under Buhari. This is what happens in Abuja, they stop to pray which causes unnecessary traffic. I guess, it’s not written in their Quran to be considerate of others. What I find disturbing is, Muslims never condemn and accept their wrongdoing, they keep quiet, justify it and want to enforce such distorted practices on others who are not even Muslims. If it’s a Christian doing wrong things, many will be so quick to condemn particularly Christians. Some even go as far to renounce Christ. Truth is rejected more, lies is more accepting.

erm erm erm but Christians also cause traffic…… see Lagos/Ibadan express way, some churches in Lagos on sundays etc. Traffic jams is common between both religions

    • LEM

      August 26, 2016 at 12:58 pm

Please don’t turn this into Christians vs Muslims. If a Christian parked in the middle of the road and begun praying he/she will be equally condemned. This is wrong please, its not about religion its about being considerate of other people.

@Gbemi: That is the most irritating comment I have read this year..Hands Down. What happened to the guy…..getting somewhere safe to park his truck and do his prayer for as long as he wants???

Churches cause traffic too.but under what circumstance??? You don’t hold people up unnecessarily. thats the issue here but i think its too high for you to comprehend . Biko think before you type.

You are very correct. Christians are also guilty. MFMites were notorious for choking up Unilag axis even to the point of blocking the driveways of residential buildings.

I also heard several announcements while attending church at St. Dominics Yaba calling on car owners to come and re-park their cars which were blocking people’s gates! I honestly cannot for the life of me understand how you can come and worship God knowing that you are causing stress and pain to others. Its beyond me.

when I was growing up in 1996, my mum and I went to oja oba in Ilorin on a Friday. we had just relocated from the Niger-Delta region of the country. That was how mumsy called a young lady selling/hawking moimoi leaves, lady dropped her tray to sell. before we could say Jack Robinson, olopa oba (emir’s policemen) flew on her, seized her wares and arrested her. My mum started screaming that they must leave her, the olopas said she should no better than to hawk her wares during jumat. Mind you this lady was not a muslim and was selling to non muslim. my mum insisted she must be released. They warned mumsy that she might be arrested along side.
Unfortunately for them, dad ‘s driver ( a soldier in uniform) drove us there and he had been watching from a distance. He immediately rushed at them with heavy koboko. They dispatched within seconds and freed the girl. That was the day I knew the meaning of “imole”. You must suffering comply to their religion. is it by force. why cant this nuisance park off the road and do a three-days marathon prayer session?

      August 26, 2016 at 5:57 pm

Honie…. Traffic is actually the movement of vehicles, ships, persons, etc., in an area….. What I believe you are referring to is a ‘traffic jam’ or ‘hold up’…. So yeah, he can halt traffic as in, halt the movement of vehicles…..

I don’t know why you are calling Buhari. I’ve been seeing behavior like this for decades in Nigeria.
I cannot count how many times I’ve been stuck in traffic on Fridays in Abuja cos people park their cars in the middle of the road during prayers.

For those of us living in the northern part we are so used to it.
I have been stuck at the National mosque Abuja for more than an hour. i was driving behind someone and he parked right there, drop and bring out his praying mat and walked str8 into the mosque.
I tried to talk but trust them, they’re always ready to suck blood so i had to hold my peace since i wasn’t ready to die. What baffles me is that after all this religious routine they still derive joy in killing so who’s fooling who

Religion in Nigeria is for show and politics.
Even in Saudi the home of Islam and countries like the UAE, you will not see someone park their car in the middle of an expressway on a weekday or weekend because of prayers.
Their mosques have parking spaces etc.
Everything in Nigeria must be different.
