The 2016 CMA Awards held at the Bridgestone Arena on Wednesday (November 2) in Nashville, Tennessee. It was the 50th edition of the awards so obviously production was bigger than ever with the organizers pulling a surprise performance from Beyoncé out of their hats.
Hosted by Carrie Underwood and Brad Paisley, they opened the show with a monologue about the election. The co-hosts joked that they are sick of all the election coverage and they wanted to “make it end.”
The event was attended by Miranda Lambert, Keith Urban, Nicole Kidman, Jennifer Garner, Karen Fairchild, Kimberly Schlapman, Jimi Westbrook, Phillip Sweet, Hillary Scott, Charles Kelley, Dave Haywood, Martina McBride, Reba McEntire, Jennifer Nettles, Billy Ray Cyrus, Kacey Musgraves,Ruston Kelly and more.
For her surprise performance, Beyoncé was decked out in head-to-toe shimmer as she wore a low-cut, sheer outfit and was surrounded by the Dixie Chicks, singing Beyoncé’s song “Daddy Lessons.”
