super falconsPresident Muhammadu Buhari has congratulated Nigeria’s Super Falcons on their victory over the senior female football team of Cameroon at the final game of the women’s Africa Cup of Nations in Yaounde.

The President described the hard-earned victory over the Indomitable Lionesses as “very sweet and well-deserved”.

In a statement issued by his Special Adviser on Media and Publicity, Femi Adesina, Buhari commended the Falcons for their “indomitable spirit, resilience and teamwork” which spurred them to victory in spite of a vociferous home crowd.

President Buhari noted that the Nigerian team achieved “this feat of being African champions for the 8th time”.

According to him, this development has lifted the spirits of sports-loving Nigerians.

He enjoined other Nigerian sports men and women to emulate the exemplary attitude of the Super Falcons who placed the interest of the nation above personal interests,

The President assured that the Federal Government would not relent in doing its best to promote sports within available resources.

President Buhari also saluted the technical competence of the coaching crew, which enabled the Nigerian players to overcome their hard-fighting opponents throughout the competition.

The Super Falcons defeated hosts Indomitable Lionesses of Cameroon 1-0 after Desire Oparanozie’s 84th minute goal, to win the 10th women’s Africa Cup of Nations for their 8th continental title.

There was nothing sweet about their victory, if anything, it left a bitter taste in the mouth of all true football fans. And there was surely nothing well-deserved about it either.
Lacking the necessary skill, physical prowess and mental dexterity to go toe-to-toe with the Lionesses, the Nigerians had to rely on luck to steal the victory from the REAL Champions. Just the way they stole the win from the beautiful South African queens!
The Lionesses controlled every aspect and every minute. Super Gabrielle who reminds me of Maradona and Messi circa 2012 totally outperformed and outshined all the so-called stars of the Nigerian team. The Lionesses were sensational today and it is a shame they lost to a completely underwhelming, unskillful and overrated side that almost bored us to death. So not fair.
This is a very sad day for football and for sports in general.
    I am sad!!!

Lol. Do you know those girls are your age-mates or even younger than you? If it was that easy, why were you not there? If you knew a thing about soccer. you’d know that it’s a tactic to allow the opponent do all the play around and just watch out for a chance to seal the game.It works sometimes, it backfires sometimes, just like any other tactic. It worked for the girls today and they are Champions of Africa again..whether you like it or not.
