#OsunWestDecides: PDP's Ademola Adeleke wins Senatorial Seat

Ademola Adeleke

The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) on Sunday announced Ademola Adeleke of the PDP as the winner of the Osun West Senatorial by-election.

The election was  held in 10  local government areas making up the district.

The winner, who is the younger brother of  the late Senator Isiaka Adeleke, had 97, 480 votes to defeat a former senator, Mudashiru Hussein of the APC, who had 66,116 votes.

Announcing the result in Iwo, the Osun West Senatorial headquarters, Baritor Kpagih, INEC Residential Electoral Commissioner for the bye-election, said Adeleke won nine out of the 10  local government areas where the election was held.

He consequently returned Adeleke  as senator to complete the tenure of  the late Adeleke  who died on April 23.

A Ahmed Makarfi-led faction of the PDP has also congratulated Adeleke on his win. Adeleke contested on the platform of the Ali Modu Sheriff-led faction of the party.

“The victory of our Party, the PDP, at the poll is a general reflection on the reawakening of Nigerians to the deceit of the All Progressive Congress (APC), led administration at all levels, hence, the overwhelming rejection of the APC by the electorates in Osun West.

The people have spoken with one voice and we know that Ademola Adeleke will deliver on his promises to the people.

The successful outcome of this election is an evidence of hard work, dedication and the unity of all members of the PDP in Osun state who buried temporary differences in the overall interest of the party and the good people of Osun state.

Even as we await the judgement of the Supreme Court we urge all our members to unite in the interest of Nigerians to rid the country of the horrible APC government.

Finally, we congratulate the people of Osun West for coming out enmass to vote for our candidate and for their peaceful conduct during the elections.

We also congratulate our members in Osun state for this important victory,” a statement by the faction said.

It’s with mixed feelings. Though it’s sends a message down to APC’s spine that their much touted change isn’t so much of a difference.
But the real questions are; did they vote out of pity for the late senator? Or anything but an Aregbesola’s candidate or using their change mantra against them?
We need another outsider party to break through these 2party system

The late Senator was very popular and the Adelekes in general are very popular in their state. They have always been – their Dad (Sina Rambo, Sharon, Davido’s grand dad) was a Senator in Old Oyo state many years ago. Sad Serubawon died.

This give confirmation to the call for Apc national leader to reach out to people of osun for good candidate who will not subject the state to all kind of controversies that gov aregbesola subjected it to.when Gov Aregbesola was voted the expectations is that he would perform very well without religious bigotry knowing that he was under the tutelage of senator Tinubu and they all knew his manner of administration. We can be proud of senator Ajimobi for not subjecting oyo to that kind of controversy. It is evident that if senator Tinubu does not step in osun may fall to a different hand.iam not a pains me when I see effort of somebody that is only out for average convenience of everybody to be attenuated as seen in osun.
For quite sometime now osun with some kind of evil minded set of people killing the students for ritual.Let all leadership of osun state including both our religious leader to address the issue for this kind of rituals to stop. Let those caught face the highest judgment of the land without any leniency.
Youths resulting to killing students like the one that just happened of osun state university.iam not a politician but I feel bad for aregbesola to subject osun to controversy knowing the effort of senator Tinubu and even the justice was retired by Jonathan.senator Tinubu it is up to you.
We trust Gov Akeredolu will not attempt to result to strange policies.American, UK are still doing well in some way because they still hold to certain principles which they father operated.osun must not fall to hand of killers of chief bola ige.Gov Tinubu, gov oyinlola, Baba akande need to step him to intervene in osun.iam not from osun but indigenes of osun with viables outfits are not comfortable with gov aregbesola performance. He need not argue this a fact of statement which senator Tinubu Apc national leader can confirm by just simple sample survey using Lagos as basis.all the best for Lagos Fashola did quite good but ambode is doing tremendously well and GOD shall help us root out the badoo boys and kidnappers and even few rituallists from Lagos.fashola maintained balance while as governor to some level but ambode is doing well. This has made people to admire Tinubu. If it were kind of aregbesola I think Lagos would have been disorganized in some way.with due respect gov aregbesola but you can still prepare the ground for apc to come out.up to apc national have silent storm braining session so that apc state do not fall to wrong hand.
