Vanessa Onyema: Silence Is Not Always Golden

It really beats me how people think that chasing fame, money, over actual human beings can bring you peace.

Sometimes those things are not enough…

Money is good, fame is great…if you strive for both, with the best intentions – without forgetting people who were actually there for you, who helped you through. If you don’t screw people over to get money and fame, then you are on the right path.

At exactly 1:18am I couldn’t sleep; I had all these thoughts running through my mind, then I remembered Chris Cornell.

It was weird for that thought to come to my mind but it did. I lived by his Scream album, it was my best, I related to it from deep within my core, I wish I had that kind of talent to sing what people related to. So I played every track as I typed.

Chris Cornell died… suicide

It was painful and I did cry…

I cried because I always thought that if I had talent, if I had the right fame, if I had money, it would fill a lot of void… Screw people, who needs them?

But I need people…

Being alone sucks!

Sometimes, we think we are not good enough; we are not even close, even when we achieve something great we are discouraged by our failures. We forget to actually enjoy life the right way, the best way.

We are busy chasing goals after goals, target after target. We all want to make a mark; we all want to be remembered for something.

But then we forget the tiniest detail… happiness.

Happiness is key to everything. Do what makes you happy.

It doesn’t matter if you don’t have everything. What is the point of having everything when you feel nothing?

We might all think that pursuing our dreams completes us, but we shouldn’t abandon every other thing.

A few laughs once in a while…
A few good friends…
Family…

They are all important in our race to the top.

You could have all the talent in the world and feel so empty, feel like you are not good enough.

No matter how little you do, everything you do is important…

Mother Theresa once wrote “I can do no great things, but only small things with great love”

Fight off depression. Open up, it doesn’t make you weak. Opening up doesn’t make you too emotional, it only makes you stronger. It keeps you alive.

Choose happiness over everything else and in the long run when you have it all, you will stay happy.

Sometimes silence is not golden… just scream!
